I think I found my new favorite course!
I wanted to find a course about 2 hours away, and I could not be more happy that I chose Southern Hills. When I called to make the tee time the lady who answered was very nice. I got to the course about 25 minutes early (07:35), and unfortunately no staff was there. Staff didn't show up until right at 08:00, which was slightly annoying, but understandable since apparently no one usually plays this early in the fall.
I stood on the first tee box and couldn't tell where the hole went....a feeling I haven't had in a long time. I was amazed by the amount of undulation in the fairways and around the greens, something that is usually not found in Nebraska (especially the Omaha area). The course was literally in perfect condition-so green, plush, and beautiful. I only remember one hole being flat (#9), all of the others have severe elevation and undulation, which keeps the course interesting. I would also say about half of the holes have some sort of movement left or right. The greens rolled perfectly and were very true.
I will be coming back! **Staff tip which I found to be helpful----don't go over the greens on the front 9. You will not get up and down.**
This course was gorgeous and in beautiful shape !!
I could play this course everyday , coming from someone who likes to play different courses all the time. I could even become a member if I lived a little closer. Excellence golf course !!!
Amazing experience!
Came out with my wife and her parents while in town visiting. My favorite course while in Nebraska visiting from Georgia. Plan to play every time we visit and would highly recommend to anyone that appreciates a beautiful and challenging course.
Great course
I played this course for the first time yesterday and was very impressed with the course condition and layout. The greens were in perfect shape, fairly fast, and they rolled true. Not the longest course around, but the wind made it challenging. Mature trees made driving accuracy paramount. I would definitely play here again.
A wonderful course
We enjoy taking a road trip to play Southern Hills. The course is in wonderful condition and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We will be back again. Thank you
Excellent course
Always a pleasure to go to Hastings and play this course. Our forsome tries to make it here 4 to 5 times a year. One of the best kept courses in the state!!
Everything was good just suck that they just eroded the green
I’m fairly new to golf so I felt rushed all day. We played 18 holes in three hours and constantly had people catching up to us. Other than that beautiful course!
Beautiful, fun, course
First time playing here, but certainly won't be my last time. The front nine is definitely better than the back nine. I'd almost rather play the front twice. We ended up having a course member join us (2 of us) when we tried to let him play through. It was nice having done course knowledge close by, for advice. I will definitely be back again.
