Still very rough shape from Hurricane Ian
We played this course with anticipation of finding some issues with conditions knowing full well the destructive rath of Ian; however, my wife and I both were surprised to how much farther the course needs to come to get back to realistic playable shape. Any low areas of the fairways is complete wasteland (dirt), Sand traps were fine and the greens albeit sanded were not too bad. We would encourage people considering playing here to wait until next fall or winter.
Nice layout
Course was in decent shape. Greens were great.
Fairways still recovering from hurricane damage but playable.
Staff was excellent . Drew was great
Never played such bad fairways
I have never played on a golf course with such miserable fairways in my golfing career! There was almost no grass, just brown earth. 100$ for this golf course is an absolute cheek!
Nice layout
Nice Greens, very few patch of grass in the fairway. Club house close, add a 6$ fee to pass the bridge..
I will come back in a few years!
Good trac to play Sanibel winds make it challenging
Good place to play. Staff is spot on.
Pace of play good. Fairways are coming back nicely
Greens are better than most.
Great place to play
Still recovering from Ian
Greens were in very nice condition but slow. Fairways are spotty and still need grass on every hole but just pick, clean and place. Support this course as it recovers from Hurricane Ian.
Needs upgrade
The course fairways is in very poor condition, mostly hard packed dirt with little grass. The greens however are in good shape.
They really should not be charging these high prices for this quality.
No bathrooms except at clubhouse.
recovering golf course
We had an excellent time playing this course. The course is recovering from the major storm of a couple years ago which damaged it.
Many of the fairways had large areas that were obviously underwater and now have little to no grass. However there were also many areas of good fairway grass to hit from. They are still a work in progress, no doubt but we felt good about helping them by supporting their effort.
Greens were excellent and tee boxes were better than some other courses we've played. It looked like several had been re-soded and were abover average. It was a fun layout and very friendly staff.
It’s great for a lot of reasons
It depends what you are looking for. I have a place in captiva and playing golf off island is tough. Sanibel golf course is close, the greens are great, the layout is interesting, fairways are beat up but who cares. Roll it 3 feet find some grass and play. They are trying to recover from the hurricane and I’m happy to help. Give ‘em a little cash and have a fun round! If you are a golf jerk this isn’t for you. If you want to have fun and just get out there and play this is great.
Looking around and impressed
I have played here many times for years. Driving around the island and seeing the remains from Ian I think this golf course is quite impressive.
The greens are very impressive. Amazing thick green grass that rolled true. Greens and adjacent to greens was all good
Fairways are in less good condition. You must play “winter rules”. There is not grass ever. And unfortunately, the fairway on 18 is the poorest. That may leave a lasting thought.
Overall, the course was impressive. Greens allowed for pleasant round in a perfect day for golf
Sanibel
Liked course, greens new and in great shape, but fairways still damaged. Priced accordingly.
You do realize a CAT 5 hurricane ran through here less than two years ago...
