Good track. Paired with good folks. A good day of golf.
Would go back.
The staff was friendly. The course was very well kept shoutout to the course maintenance crew they’re doing a good job out there. The course itself is fairly challenging but fun nonetheless. The only issue I had was congestion of players on the course but that could’ve been it being a Friday. Overall 4.5/5 I recommend trying this course out if you haven’t yet.
The course was great
Loved the layout, was challenging but not too challenging to enjoy.
Great Value
This course is old school--out in the country, with very few adjacent houses. Mature trees everywhere impose a penalty for errant shots, but the undergrowth is cleared so you can find your ball and have a shot back to the fairway. The greens are in very nice shape, putting true and rather quick going downhill. The course features many doglegs, and longer hitters will need to carefully consider club selection off the tee. The layout is fair but requires thought about placement. What looks like an easy par can quickly become a double bogey if you pick the wrong club or try to cut off too much of a dogleg.
Conditioning generally was good, especially the greens, but a few teeing areas require attention, especially #2, and it looked like the holes were due to be recut.
Don't expect much from the clubhouse--it is old school also. Good for a sport drink and a pack of nabs, and they were seriously understaffed on Labor Day, with at first only one pro shop staffer running carts as well as the tiller. Staff was friendly, but they clearly are set up to cater to members who don't need much in the way of assistance. Bottom line, this course is worth a drive in the country. Enjoy it!
Ayden Golf Course Average and Overpriced
I normally don't do reviews, but this is something that bothered me and had to speak out.
I played Ayden for the first time in a few years. I have played here about a dozen times over the past 7 years. Ayden is just an average golf course nothing special about the layout or design. I consider it similar or on par with Bradford Creek that is close by. Bradford Creek's design is more interesting that Ayden, but Ayden's conditions are a bit better. My complaint about Ayden is the price at the course and through golf now or tee off. Ayden is overpriced compared to Bradford Creek. Ayden is priced as much or more than much better courses in the area Cypress Landing, Occano (Scotch Hall), Carolina Colours, Evergreen. Ayden layout is similar to Maccripine. However, Maccripne on Tee Off/ Golf Now is around $15, whereas Ayden is $32. I will not go back to Ayden, until they lower the rates.
Great Course!
Had to make a trip to Greenville. Thought why not play some golf while I'm up there. Course was in immaculate condition. Tee boxes were large and flat, fairways were green, soft, and tight, the greens were tight and slick. Pin placement made the course a little challenging. Overall. GREAT COURSE! I would play again and definitely recommend.
Needs marshal to regulate play
Decent course, but plagued with bad course etiquette, fivesomes, and slow play.
Nice course w/fun greens
My fourth or fifth time at Ayden. As this was a winter visit, I expected the fairways to be soft not firm as we have had some rain of late. The course proved to be in excellent shape, the greens firm and fast (challenging your reading skills), the bunkers have real sand (not winter mud), and the fairways - fully playable, the ball getting a good roll on the drives. We played from the "Green" tees - a mix of your standard white (members) and gold (senior) for about 5,800 yds. This course is one of my local faves that I love to visit from time to time.
