Quail Creek Golf Course
About
Quail Creek Golf Club is tied for being the most difficult public course in the St. Louis area. Designed by Hale Irwin, the course is laid across rolling hills laced with meandering streams. The layout requires accuracy with narrow fairways and hard-to-read greens. Water hazards come into play frequently as do trees and bunkers. It is a formidable test for any skill level. Most of the holes have a risk-reward element, making the course more accessible by placing an emphasis on strategy over strength. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 ninth. It will favor golfers who successfully cut the corner, making it possible to reach the green in two. This tricky hole demands accurate mid-iron play. Quail Creek Golf Club finishes with an interesting par 4 that has water along the left side of both the fairway and green.

Very poor experience
Fairways are dried up dirt.
Greens are dried up and patchy
Staff is uptight.
Overall just not worth the moeny at all. I probably wont return the rest of this season.
Bummer
Greens were in good shape, tee boxes not so much. Bring a nail gun to get your tee in the ground. Fairways were not good either but its early in the year so its somewhat understandable.
Disappointing
Always disappointing to play here but often the only place with available tee times on popular weekends if you don’t book elsewhere in time. A great layout but the conditions are awful. I can’t believe they spend a penny on upkeep. Greens are awful. Go ahead and accept the fact you’ll have to move your ball on the green to find a relatively clear line to put on.
70 degrees in December
Course was packed and play was slow. The group in front of us had 2 of their players who (who must have been 30+ handicap players) hitting from the back tees. Made for a slow day until we went around them.
Weather was beautiful and the course was in decent shape. I will play there again.
Not Nearly as Good as it Used to be
I want to give this course a better rating but the conditions get worse every year. I enjoy the layout but it is simply not in good shape, even for this time of year.
Hadn’t played in a while so on a great December day, got an inexpensive rate and tried QC again. Unfortunately, I was disappointed, again. First off, the cart paths are falling apart and crumbling. The fairways are hard and many of them have huge dead patches. Most of the greens are in terrible shape and have large areas where holes cannot be used.
If you want to just get out onto a course and knock it around, this is the course for you. Not sure I’d pay more than 20 dollars to play it, though. The course itself is fun to play, and I especially like the back nine. I won’t rule out playing it again but just wish some care was taken so that the course would be in better shape and more like it was five plus years ago.
No grass in December but I wasn’t surprised.
Course was packed but had a beautiful day filled with fun golf and great company.
Golfchic
I have played this course for years. I have always been happy with my time on the course. I played today as a single player & had a lovely round of golf. I was offered more than once the opportunity to play through from two golfers & four golfers. I was pleased with that courtesy!! Will continue to play at Quail Creek. Thank you.
Too bad
Very good layout, better be accurate off the tee.
The course is not taken care of like when it first opened, the overall condition has steadily declined year by year for the last 25 years. I am not a golf snob but for a winter rate of $32 not a good value.
The reason I won’t be back anytime soon are the cart paths. They are in such poor condition that you are constantly bouncing around in the cart even at a slow pace.
Too bad, whoever owns this property is squeezing money out but not putting anything back. I am not saying anything that everyone who plays golf in St. Louis doesn’t know, but you asked for a review.
Decent for this time of year. Fairways thin in spots. Greens had a few bad spots. Bunkers not maintained. Cart paths rough.
Never go back
I haven’t been there in five years and don’t plan to go back for another 20 very very very very very slow play no course management computers don’t work the only good thing were the starters
Waste neither your time nor your money on this course.
Over the past 6 - 7 years that i have been playing in St. Louis, this is the worst course of all. Nothing has obviously been done to improve its condtion. Greens are terrible, fairlways are thin and tee boxes are hard and rough. Also, the cart paths are in TERRIBLE shape. With the money the conty is saving via the solar panels used for power, that money should be spent imaking the NECESSARY improvement.
The condition of the course has not gotten any better.
