What a disappointment!
After seeing an ad for this course on Facebook, I booked two Hot Deal tee times, and my buddy and I drove an hour and twenty minutes to the course. On first glance it looked pretty good. The practice area was ok, but the putting green was covered with some kind of grass I've never seen. We were told that it was bent grass, but I don't think it was. The grain rain twenty different directions and the green speed was about a 5. Since we got a Hot Deal, we decided to go ahead and play anyway. One hour and twenty minutes after teeing off, we were waiting in the 4th fairway to hit our approach shots to the green. Yes, An hour and twenty minutes to play 3 and a half holes. RIDICULOUS! The group in front of us was 2 men and 1 woman hitting from three different tee boxes, and hitting into the woods and/or water on every hole, then spending 10 - 15 minutes or more looking for balls or fishing for every ball they could see in the pond. After waiting 20 minutes for that group to finish and leave the hole, we decided to leave. NO ranger anywhere to be seen. As we drove backwards to the clubhouse, the first three tees we passed had two foursomes each waiting and a third group in their fairways waiting on the groups on the greens. We told them all that we hoped they were ready for a 7 hour round of golf. We drove straight to the parking lot, unloaded the cart, took the cart back and started looking for another place to play. We never went in the clubhouse because we knew it was no use and we didn't want a raincheck because we have no intention of ever going back there. We got tee times for $21 at River Oaks Country Club just west of Statesville, NC, and went and had a wonderful time playing there. This course used to be called Buffalo Shoals Golf Club, but it has a new owner and he has spent a fortune redoing the course and I highly recommend it! The greens rolled true and fast. The bermuda grass in the fairways was about 50% green, but when all the grass comes out of dormancy, the fairways will be very nice. We definitely will go back to River Oaks.
Perfect course
Beautiful lay out good condition fairway but green speed so slowly.
I wish getting better after 2week.
Cedarbrook
Great course. GPS carts shut off with little warning leaves you looking stupid for 15 minutes to get back to cartpath.
Nice course but slow play
Took over 5 hours and no marshals. Course is great otherwise
Sloooooooow
I have come to expect at least 5.5 hours to play a round here. Frost delay set us back 30 minutes but not sure why everyone went off 1. The cart kept telling us to keep up pace of play but you can’t with 3-4 groups on every hole. To beat it all, a guy decides to hit before we get in our cart and about nailed one of us. He was a player who played their a lot, not sure if a member but was walking with 2 riders. Why be is such a rush when we can’t go anywhere! Having someone ride around and keep pace of play or a starter would be great. All in all it’s a fun place to play. Staff is friendly 90% of the time. Price is great long as they don’t jack it up like others in the area. If closer I’d join just because it’s not gonna break the bank and most the people don’t act like they don’t want you there. Greens were in excellent shape for the season even better than expected. Give them a try if you haven’t already. Just don’t go wanting to get in a quick round. Normally a slower pace golf course.
Foursome
Played a round robin round. Course in great shape best fairways around. A real hidden gem! Highly recommend
Wonderful!
This is a wonderful course. Love the layout. Little wet today but that couldn't be helped. I would go back
1st Time Not Disappointing
First time playing this course and enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and very welcoming. Course was in great condition for winter. Green fairways. Leaves blown off to the side on greens and fairways. Looking forward to playing there again.
