Don’t bother
As soon as we arrived the staff were telling us not to use Golf Now and come direct to them
Then they said we couldn’t use electric trolley. I understand that usually but the ground was frozen over and we couldn’t get a tee in the ground
Then as we were approaching the first tee a member of staff ran over to us and said we had to use mats on the fairway. again totally ridiculous as the ground was rock hard
No wonder that we only saw another 4 people on the whole course
Excellent
A good days golf on an interesting course which is a good test for all levels of golfer
Good course
We played at 4.40 which I would avoid in future as it seemed very busy before it went quiet. I think some members were in a medal and were not particularly friendly as they were in a competition
Good track for winter golf
Greens were very true and fairly fast for the time of year. Very muddy and boggy in places but fairways held up well considering it was February. Would play again. Greens should be brilliant come the spring!
Penn Golf Course
For the time of year I have to say the course was in great condition. Greens were in great condition and considering all the rain only a few really wet patches.
The staff were excellent and even though we were GN players treated us all with open arms and very helpful.
Will look to play it again in the summer as believe it’ll be a very good challenge.
Lovely course, people not so much
Course was lovely, not the best I've played but very good, even for the time of year, because we went early club shop was closed so didn't actually meet any staff but we did meet a few members, to say the least they were not very welcoming at all, when we arrived we got our clubs and trolleys out the car and put on our golf shoes, only to be ambushed on the 1st tee that we should not change our shoes in the car park and we should read the , in their words 'massive sign' explaining this, when we apologised it didn't seem to mean anything, checked when we finished for the 'massive sign' and still didn't see it, in short course was lovely and well maintained, people not so much
Course Holding Up Despite Weather
Arrived at 07:45 after a really heavy night of rain alongside a good week of bad weather, as expected water on the course but it wasn't muddy and the course was more than playable, played here a few times now and enjoy the layout.

I would really like to rate this course higher, the only reason i am not is thus:
although I believe members should take priority over non members, there is no such rule that seems to be enforced that if u book a tee time (via golfnow or otherwise) u have to join the back of an old fashioned way of queuing your ball if members are there before...... or after you! (not being aware of the etiquette.).. one of our party had to leave after the front 9 due to the que at our booking time
Great course but don’t book visitors tee time on a Friday until after 3pm
My tee time was booked for 7.50am but members were lining up in a long queue so eventually after waiting to get on for around 20 minutes I went and played the back 9 and came back to play the front 9. Again held up by a slow 3 ball who didn’t have the courtesy to let me play through. It’s part and parcel of playing golf these days I guess but not encouraging for new players and eventually golf courses will not survive like a few local ones haven’t. On the upside it’s a lovely course, greens were immaculate but again held up on quite a few holes by ground staff raking bunkers and watering greens!
Long waiting times
Booked a 17:40 Tee time. Arrived ahead of time but didn’t tee off until 18:15 as there were loads of members queuing. Although you can book a tee time online, this isn’t actually your tee time. Instead you join a queue. The online booking should make this clear or if they want to use booked tee times then all people including members should book a tee slot.
Due to the delay and slow play of members in front of us, we were unable to complete a full round before dark.
Mixed bag
Course was fine for money
Greens very fast and a few strange bounces
Prof shop reception was very poor
Lady behind bar very nice
Excellent
Course in great condition and a good day was had by all
