Great Value for Money
Good day out as not far to travel.
The course was in good condition wet in places but that was to be expected due to recent weather. It’s not a course for the faint hearted as quite long but has interesting and very different holes.
Staff were pleasant ,welcoming and greeted us by name that was a nice touch we just stayed for a hot drink after the round and that was good.
All round great value for the money will look for another deal in the spring
Very good course bit ropey in to be expected with the weather
Only one moan 12 hole needed better and clearer direction for tee location .also afrer walking to the tee down the hill members stayed at the top of the hill in view most annoying can’t be bothered to walk to the tee chaps?! Other than that it was great thanks
Highly recommend
First time playing at The Welcombe 4 balls, green are in good condition, after all bad weather we have lately. Love the par 3 #6 & #9, highly recommend. If I live locally will consider be come a member, well done to the green keeper, keeping the course in good shape, will definitely come back A+ course.
Interesting holes, great challenege
Played this course as my first post lockdown course 3 years ago, came back and it’s just as good if not better than I remembered. Course was in great condition considering overnight frost and the rain over the last 2 months, all areas extremely playable, greens ran well with the odd bobble due to frost, fairways a good length and rough the right length to present it as a hazard as it should be.
Some great hole layouts across both 9’s with excellent bunkering, tee positioning and water features. Not one hole leaves you thinking it was just a bit meh, and not many courses can say that.
Highly recommend
Great Golf Course at the Welcombe
Considering the awful wet weather we’ve had of late the course was in reasonable condition with no temporary tees or greens. We lost the last 3 holes as the green keepers were on maintenance duties and seem to be in front of us which was annoying but completely understandable. Will definitely be back soon for another game.
Excellent
Great course . Played it the last 3 weekends . Always in good condition . The rough is harsh but not impossible to play from the fairways are tight and accuracy is rewarded . The greens are a test but not unplayable . Really like this course
Great course
Course is in great condition.
Unfortunately it was a hot day and the halfway house was closed and nowhere on course to get any drinks .
Slow Play
A fantastic course spoilt by slowest round of the year. At one point there were 4 × 4 balls playing or waiting to play the par 3 11th. 2 x 2 balls behind us gave up and went to try and play holes on the front 9 again. There were no martials to be seen to speed the play up
The Welcombe Course
Course in excellent condition. Greens very tricky and lots of slopes. Bunkers fair, not a great deal of sand in them! As I had played here earlier in the year, and experienced the long uphill and down hill walks between the greens and the next tee I would have booked a buugy but the cost of hiring one is in my opinion 'extortionate'!!
On a final note, unfortunately, our fourball was having to follow the last group of a society who were extremely slow - it took us nearly 4 and 3/4 hours to complete our round!!
First visit
Great course in great condition and the greens were dome of the best I have ever played on. Well worth a visit.
Golf
Great course great condition wide fairways great course
Each hole very different
No two holes the same. Some quite steep slopes between greens and next tee. very good value for money.
Pace of play
They really need to tackle the pace of play here, taking over 4hrs.
Love this course but the above is not making my decision easy to choose it
