Whispering Firs Golf Club
About
Whispering Firs Golf Club is one of two courses operated by Joint Base Lewis McChord. The other course, Eagles Pride, is located southwest of Whispering Firs. Designed by Bob Baldock in 1962, Whispering Firs opened on what was then McChord Air Force Base and later became part of Joint Base Lewis McChord. Though it's a military golf course, it's open to the public but don't forget to check in with security at the visitor's center. The layout features well manicured fairways lined with mature trees and challenging rough. The small greens demand accuracy and are made even more difficult with strategically placed bunkers framing the edges. There are some tough doglegs that require conservative play, and water hazards come into play as well. Whispering Firs Golf Club will test a variety of skills but it's not an overly punishing course. Players of all skill levels will be able to enjoy a round here.

Course and food
The course was nice. Just so happen the greens
Had been plugged. We look forward to playing there again. The food was good!
Could be better
The course itself was is in OK condition, but they had aerated the greens recently. Probably the reason for the discount. The issues with playing there come in the other amenities and expectations of a course. There weren't any range balls for a warm up because they were all out on the range with nobody able to run the pick up cart, so no warm up.
Also, the restaurant in the clubhouse closes at 2 PM, so if you are wanting an after round meal or beer you'll need to go somewhere else.
This could be a great on base course with little adjustments to accomodate a better overall experience.
Great pace of play!
Nice and quiet on course this week..
3:20 minute round!
Uneven Tee Box Surface
The overall course layout was not that bad. Although, the “Greens” were being aerated for the upcoming Spring. The staff personnel were very friendly and accommodating.
Beautiful weather!
Considering the amount of rain in previous weeks the course was in pretty good condition. Greens were a bit slow until later in the day when it dried up a little…overall a good day!
great winter round
played on a weirdly mild winter day (62 degrees).
course was in great shape in spite of recent heavy rain.
Very nice course.
I gave it fewer stars in some categories than it probably deserves but I was playing it after a few days of rain. I plan on returning many times when the weather turns dryer. Overall a pretty nice course. Good experience.
Great course to play
We loved playing this course and would absolutely play it again.
