Course Has Closed
Played the course prior to closing and conditions were poor. However, layout was terrific and had great land for a fun, unique course. Course was short, but the fun hilly course made up for it with a it’s numerous unique holes.
Don’t waste your money
It’s terrible. Grass isn’t mowed. Hills everywhere. Greens aren’t cut. Tee boxes are dirt. Don’t play here. Hole 8 is kind of cool though.
Great time
Golf experience like you’ve never had before. Some of the most interesting holes in the area. Takes you through the forest and then back into the open. Greens a little rough but it’s still early. Overall a great time
Always a challenge
I have been golfing this course for years, and it is without a doubt my favorite. The owner, Rick, is a super-nice guy and he has really created something special here. It has the most laid back atmosphere of any course I have ever played. On top of the relaxed feel of the place, the course layout is narrow and hilly. You have to really use the terrain and frequently pull out smaller clubs to employ strategy rather than power and distance. Even the par threes thwart a simple approach. If you are looking for a boring, easy game with nice wide fairways, look elsewhere. This is exciting golf!
PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.......
Tired of the "same old same old"..then give Stonewall golf course a try and help out the independent owner, Rick, who has put his heart and soul into this place and has made a lot of improvements over the years to provide the golfer with a fun, yet challenging course. Fairways and greens are, for the most part, untouched by the winter kill. Basically, it's a "mountain course" right here in the Triad with varied elevation changes so don't go to the gym before you play. It was 91 degrees when we played, but the course afforded plently of shade to escape the sun. GO PLAY and experience Stonewall.
Great owner an a Beautiful course
I really loved this course!! different to me from growing playing at Bermuda Run an Tanglewood all the time... An this course showed me that i am not as good as i thought..Placement is everything on this course i would recommend you use a middle iron of the tee on a lot of the holes ..The Greens are some of the best i have seen...It was a rainy day but still loved this course even if i was not playing that well..The owner is a really nice man an he will give you tips...you will need it on this gem of a course....
Overall great golfing experience!
Stonewall is a pleasure to play. It has very challenging holes as well as holes that can give success even if you do not hit every shot perfect. It is not so difficult that you leave frustrated. Stonewall's staff does not have the extreme pace of play attitude that other courses have, which in turn lends itself to a pleasurable round of golf. Try it, you'll like it!!
short challenging course
Do NOT FOLLOW GOLF NOW DIRECTIONS THEY ARE WRONG!! course short overall with many drivable par 4's but very narrow fairways and small greens make course more challenging. Greens and tee boxes need some upkeep. lots of elevation changes and blind drives also add to difficulty. overall ok course.
This Course is very hilly.
If you like hilly courses and semi-narrow fairways you'll love this course. Shot placement is very critical due to its layout. they're are a couple holes that require an up hill approach shot that does not reveal the layout of the green until you get up there to chip or or put. Overall this wasn't a bad course, especially for the money. Greens and Fairways were definitely playable and the course it general was maintiained fairly well.
This course was a challenge
It was our first time there and the course has some interesting holes. We will deffinately play it again. Well worth the money.
Double Booking
On my last two outings booked through GolfNow, my tee time has been double booked. Although the course attendant worked it out on each occasion, I would appreciate the absence of that confusion. During the visit prior to my last, I was paired with the other golfers being that our times were double booked. Other than this issue I have been very happy with GolfNow!
Terrible course, worse employees
I knew Stonewall was one of the worse courses in the Triad area but for $10 on golfnow I figured it would be worth it. Boy was I wrong. From the jerk working behind the counter giving me a hard time about using a golfnow tee time to the ankle high weeds on the tee boxes, I wouldn't play this course again if they paid me.
Fairly short course but don't be fooled
Even though this is a short course and some of the par 4s are drivable, the layout makes you play your shots as opposed to just hitting the ball and having an easy next shot. Ball placement is key. The front 9 is definitely more challenging with narrow fairways and elevated greens. The back 9 opens up a bit and lets you rip it a little. However, an errant shot will be trouble. Overall, the course was pretty good. The rundown you get in the clubhouse is almost intimidating which helps to get you ready for the challenge ahead. Tee box and fairway maintenance could have been a little better but it was early spring. Hopefully that gets some attention. We have already said we are going back. Not a bad option at all especially for the price. Would definitely recommend giving it a try. Hit 'em straight.
greens slow and still healing
course still had aerification marks on the greens; i'm looking forward to playing again when the trees are full and the greens are done healing
the golf course was good, short, had some bad greens, and they were slow. For the right money ok. We booked off labor day weekend, drive over an hour to get there, then they would not honor the golf now deal. To not waste a trip had to pay full price when should have been playing for 12. Staff just did not seem to care Gps directions were wrong. Don't know that I would play again. Just call make sure they will honor your golfnow deal..

ok
Course is short and somewhat tight, but very hilly.... The only problem is the staff seemed as if they could care less if we were there or not.... They acted like they didn't even want to honour our GOLFNOW teetime... Will not be going back for that reason
Unique layout, very scenic
Lots of short holes that require pinpoint location (Only hit driver once). Hit irons off almost every tee. I wouldn't want to play that way everyday but the hills are so pretty that it was very enjoyable.
One of the most beautiful courses and layouts I've seen.
No frills but well worth the money. Gorgeous with the leaves changing.
Don't do it!
Don't play here unless you like being hassled about making an online tee time, don't mind waiting for the "pro shop" to open because he has to fix a water leak for the 5th time. This course has so much potential but as of right now the course fits perfectly with the staff.....sad.
The course is extremely hilly and has many blind shots.
This hilly layout plays much longer than its yardage indicates. Most greens are elevated several feet and walking from the cart to the green can be difficult for a golfer with bad knees. Short shots will roll up to 50 feet back down the hill. Greens are undulating but true. Overall for a person in good health, the course is fun and demands precise shot placement. It is best avoided if one has breathing or joint issues.
Is this owner Rick the same owner who got so many bad reviews back in 2012 and 2013 about not honoring Golf Now tee times? Or new owner/management in place since then? I want to try this course but lots of red flags.
