Busy!
The parking lot was jammed packed when my group arrived for our afternoon tee time. The pro shop shack was at max capacity and the attendant seemed a bit overwhelmed by all the traffic. With the cart girl the only other employee I saw all day, they could probably use an extra hand to help keep things going.
The course conditions were pretty good, nothing glaring or extraordinary and the same could be said of the design and layout of the course which works well enough to entertain the casual golfer.
Surprisingly good practice facilities here, perhaps the best feature. And it's a decent value at just $33 on a Sunday, no wonder it was so busy!
Incredible golf course for the money!!
I played Queenfield last year (Apr 2017) for the first time, and didn't know what to expect. The course was incredible for the price of the green fees - I couldn't believe it!
The only slightly bizarre thing I could mention about Queenfield is that it is sort of "out in the middle of nowhere", if you know what I mean. You travel east from Richmond, VA out past Mechanicsville along Route 360, turn left by a big red barn (on the right side of the road), and follow that road aways.... You'll be surrounded by farms, cows, cornfields, etc... and then all of the sudden, you come upon a beautiful golf course, hidden away from everything.
Queenfield also has the distinction of being the only course (so far) where I completely blasted a drive off the fairway... My longest drive *EVER*.... We paced it off near a sprinkler head, and I slammed the drive 284 yards!!
You have got to give Queenfield a try if you're in the Richmond, VA area. You won't be sorry... It really is an amazing course!
would be 5 stars
It seems like they spent their money in the right places. the greens are the best in the area, fast and true. The fairways and tee boxes are ok. and the pro shop is nothing more than a double wide. However, that should not deter you from playing this beautiful course. I liked the back nine slightly better than the front. I also played in the middle of December in a little rain. still absolutely worth it. Will be my course of choice when I'm visiting my parents who live in Mechanicsville.
Confidence Builder
Played this course with a friend in early July. We had an early tee time to try and beat the summer heat and humidity. The course was in fantastic shape, green almost everywhere, and the fairways were cut and like carpet on most holes. The greens were fast and true with only 1 hole showing some patches of dead grass.
An awesome, well-kept course that's easy enough for beginners to gain some confidence and for good golfers to post a nice score. I'll be playing this course over and over through the summer and into the fall.
Home Field Queenfield
This course is one of the closest to me, living in Mechanicsville, Va. I play this course with my dad and brother regularly (5-6 rounds per year) and it's usually our go-to for a quality round at a decent price. There usually isn't much traffic ahead or behind, and the course layout is fun and challenging for players of almost any skill level. Greens are pretty well kept and the fairways are forgiving, though thick, tall brush hazards force you to really evaluate your club choice on certain holes when deciding to lay up or try to go over them. Overall it's a fun, quiet course to play if you enjoy the serenity of the country over courses with more suburban feels like The Crossings or The Hollows.
Little bit of country
Literally in the middle of the cornfield and farm. Played twice and the likes are the greens and the pace of play. Greens are very good and is very quiet relaxing 18 holes. Fairways ok , but the tees really need work. Tees hard and dusty, with very little grass . Not a real challenging course , but being out of the way is very good pace and quiet , stress free environment. Clubhouse is little trailer, but practice facilities are very good. Nice driving range and good size putting green gives you very good feel for greens on course. Far out in King William county and will not play often , but ok for times when looking for change of pace.
Good course.
The course was in good shape...especially for a December round. The guy checking us in was rude, but I only had to talk to him for about 2 minutes anyway. There is no clubhouse to speak of (it's a trailer)....but I'm just there to play anyway.
course offers some challenging holes
course is in nice shape. very playable. greens hold and roll very nice
Yo!
Good course for the money $25. Greens in great shape and for the most part consistent
All holes are wide open, but don't let that fool you. Fun course.
I enjoyed playing this course. I would definitely take the ride (about 2 hours) with some friends to share the experience.
First time on course
My wife and I were looking for a relaxing but challenging afternoon of golf. We found the staff extremely friendly and attentive. The greens were fantastic. Very generous fairways with thick woods that keep you from being too aggressive. The area has had a significant amount of rain recently and traps were a bit firm but playable. Nice driving range, separate putting and chipping greens. Strongly recommend this course!
Nice course for the money
The course is well maintained. Nice T boxes, attractive greens, pretty fairways. The rough is not too difficult ; the wire grass does conceal balls in the secondary. Fun to play.
Great value
Great condition, nice wide fairways, very few fairway bunkers. a little off the beaten track but worth the effort to get there. A real fun day on a course that didn't beat you up. Will definitely be going back.
Viniterra layout without the.moguls..
Just shot an 86 first time at this fine.course..
Nice conditions;, plenty of long carries, good chipping areas, decent greens (even better once aeration plugs grow in fully).
Really good grass range, sand trap and practice greens too.
Par 72 with wide fairways, good lies, raked traps, good teeboxes.
Every shot in the bag and even a few camera.shots.of the.deer on back nine. Go Play!
Cart paths need repair. The greens are well maintained .
Cart paths need repair. Greens well maintained. Trees planted in peculiar places in the fairway. Adequate water coolers located throughout the course.
over all rate course 8
greens need work bald spots, sand is too thin, fairways are good but u must hit ball where u looking and most fairways are lined
with trees. played course 3 or 4 times i shoot in middle 90s. have a nice time when i play.
