About CarlsbadIf your fear of the dark or bats is non-existent, then exploring the Carlsbad Caverns is a must-see. After you’ve adventured through the caves, it’s worth your while to stick around for the Bat Flight program, where you can witness thousands of bats fly outside from their caverns to search for food.
If the sticky, New Mexico heat gets to you, there’s no better place to cool off than at Sitting Bull Falls. You’ll witness the 150-foot waterfall, and veg out in the cooling waters down below. There’s also a series of caves behind the falls, but you’ll need to make an appointment to check them out.
Lake Carlsbad Golf Course is home to an 18-hole course, as well as a par-3 course. With only nine holes, the par-3 course can be completed in under an hour, but you’ll wish the round could last longer as you’ll play alongside the Pecos River. The 18-hole course is only 6,512 yards, but it always finds a way to test the skills of any golfer.
