Great Par 3 Course

This is the first time I've played Mountain Shadows since its major renovations. The course is really short - no holes more than say 150 yds. Course is beautifully maintained, play is fast, and the experience pleasant. I booked here because I am getting back into golf after a year hiatus.
If you like par 3 golf or need to re-introduce yourself to the game this is the course for you!

Too Short, Too Many Compromises

A mediocre experience. The Hawk 9 holes should have been a driving range. Its way too short and as a result there are some bizzare arrangements.

The King 9 holes are a bit better but not by much. Most of the tee boxes are crooked.
Greens, fairways, bunkers are well kept.

Would only play here again under duress.

good value

They have done a lot since I last played this course 5 years ago. Fairways, bunkers, tees, greens were in very good condition. Landscaping vastly improved. Tee times were on time, staff helpful.

I would definitely play there again.

a typical resort course

Orange Tree is always "in good enough shape." Fairways are their best feature - wide and well maintained. Traps always could use more sand. The greens are all the same: small, guarded by two traps, and canted towards the fairway. We got a great rate at $35.00 which is a great bargain and why we played it. Its worth playing when the rates are exceptionally good.

Not for recreational Golfers

The course was well maintained but at the same time virtually unplayable for the average golfer. Huh? Well...
Pros: fairways were well managed and the right height; greens run true, traps adequate sand, tees pretty level for the most part except for two on the back nine which were actually canted downhill.
Cons: Here's why its unplayable. The rough is sparse and actually shorter than the fairways. A ball hit slightly offline runs until it reaches desert. Six balls went OOB for me. Flag placement on the greens were all short-sided to the front on 16 of 18 holes. Short chips and pitches were impossible to stop. This course is not for the average golfer and my handicap is 8. Would not play here again or recommend it. Don't know who they expect to play here.

Good Course

Excellent condition overall. Tees, fairways, greens are in great shape. Bunkers could use more sand.

Total yardage seems shorter than claimed.

Views can be spectacular.

You get what you pay for.

At $49. Its a serious bargain for the Sno-bird season. Course conditions: fairways are generous and in good condition; rough is dormant Bermuda Grass; tee boxes average; greens are a disaster. Grass is sparser and long, tons of diviot marks and makes for bumpy, slow putts. Traps are vg with plent of sand.

Its a shame the greens aren't in good condition.

Very playable

Silverado is challenging from the back tees; comfortable from the whites. My only issue is that the fairways and approaches are cut way too short. This makes chipping very difficult for the average golfer.
