Nice Course

First time playing. I wasn't sure what to expect. Upon arrival, I was a little confused on where to go. So, I parked in the lot. Not too long after, a staff member drove a cart to my car, and I loaded up.
Pro shop staff was very friendly and helpful. Had to wait for members to sort out a game.
There is not a warm up area, so to speak. Has a driving net, with two stalls, and some well used balls.
There is also a short game practice area, with two tee boxes and a large green with two pins. Back tee plays front 75 yards and back 100 yards. You will need to shag your own practice balls.
Being built around houses, I found the course to be fairly wide open, with houses set well back.
I did have a problem with the greens. They were real firm, and hard to hold. Balls hit to the middle of the green seemed to roll off the back. In addition, there is a lot of undulations, and the pins were all set a few paces from the edges.
Lots of false fronts and falloffs at the back of the greens. Ball placement is critical.
The area surrounding the bunkers has been shaved to bare earth, and sloping into the sand. If you hit it to the fringe of the bunker, consider it in the bunker.
After playing, I feel I could greatly improve my score, now knowing the layout and intricacies.

Great course, Friendly staff

Originally booked this course at 11AM as a Golfnow Hot tee time. Having to drive to Central California that day, I arrived early at 8:30.
The course was not heavily booked, and the pro shop staff was very accommodating. There was an opening at 9AM, and they allowed me to play early.
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have played courses, under the same conditions, only to be told I had to wait until my later time.
The course was a week from closing for over seed. Yet the entire course was in excellent shape. Mowers were out, and the fairways were green and playable. If anything, they may have over watered the course. But, no complaints.
The greens were rolling true. Not shaggy.
All in all, a great experience, from club drop off to club cleaning.

Pleasently Surorised

Upon arriving at Camelback Golf Club, I found it to be located a little out of the way. I wondered, Why would anyone go out of their way to play here?
Then I found out. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They took my clubs to the cart, and directed me to the clubhouse.
After playing another course in the area, I wondered if maybe the courses were letting them go due to over seeding taking place in a couple of weeks.
Not Camelback. The course was in excellent shape.
The starter, after finding out this was my first time playing, gave me some inside tips on a few of the courses. Then he said to have fun.
The beverage cart came by several times during the round. The course marshal came by, and stopped to chat for a short time. Wanted to be sure I was having a good time.
After finishing, the attendants took care of my clubs.
As I left, I thought to myself, Why don't more people go out of their way to play this course. Well Done!!

Beautiful course

How can you go wrong in Cabo. On arrival, I was greeted by the staff, and proceeded to the clubhouse. I was scheduled to play Arroyo/Mountain combination.
I asked if I could play Ocean course, and was told there would be no problem.
The course setting was beautiful, with the ocean a backdrop on one of the holes. There were not a lot of golfers on the course, and the foursome playing in front of us waved us thru on the 6th hole. From there, did not see a golfer the rest of the day.
The holes are spread out amongst the villas, on the Ocean course, and the terrain on the Arroyo course.
All in all, was a great experience.

Ho Hum course

I guess, being a course in Scottsdale, I expected more. Driving in to the course, my opinion was of well designed and maintained course. That is where it stopped. On arrival, I went to bag drop. I found out there were two tournaments being played on the 36 holes. This was not a concern, as we finished in 4 1/2 hours. My concern was the bag drop people couldn't see past the tournament sheets to find me on the open play list. Clubhouse squared that away.
Now for the course. First the tees. Hard as a brick. And, with all that green area to chose from, the chewed up grass told me the tee markers had not been moved in some time.
The Fairways played adequate, but the rough could use some attention.
As noted on prior reviews, the bunkers were jacking sand. The club just skidded on the hard pan under very little sand cover
When I was outing on the practice green, I noted some bare spots. This was expected, as the course appears to be transitioning from winter seed to summer Bermuda. The practice green putted medium fast.
I get to the first hole, and the difference in green speed leaves my putt 4 feet sort of the cup. The greens also showed a transition from winter to summer grasses.
All in all, a lovely location and layout. But, in my opinion, this course could be a gem IF some money and time were spent in upkeep and maintenance.
Until then, I will play elsewhere.

Not what I expected

This is a course that has been on my radar for some time. I booked thru Golfnow. I arrived a little early. I asked if there was a. Possibility of teeing off earlier. The response was that since I had prepaid, I was not allowed to change my time. I then watched for 20 minutes as no one teed off.
The course layout was good. But the tee boxes were not mowed, and weeds a foot high were represent around bunkers

First time in Atlanta

Pros: It was outdoors, and it was a golf course.
Staying in Atlanta, overnight. Had time to kill. Found this course on Gofnow. The reviews were rather good, so I booked an 8AM tee time. Arrived early for warm up, the parking lot was empty, and the clubhouse was dark. Clubhouse attendant shows up about 7:30. Then he commenced to line up golf carts. . This left very little time, so went straight to the first tee. I wanted to purchase a logo ball for my collection, none to be found.
Found the course to be in rough shape. I was aware of green aerification, and planned for that. But,the fairways were shaggy. They looked to have been unmown for some time. Mushrooms were growing on the fairways and tee boxes. At times, you could not tell where the fairway stopped and the rough started.
There appeared to be more sand on the greens, due to aerification, then there was in the bunkers. In some cases, the sand had been shoved to the edges of the bunkers by machinery.
Some of the greens had bare spots, with sections where the grass was taller than the fairways.
On the 18th hole, I went to move what I thought was a piece of dirt from plugging that was sand covered. Came to find out it was a weed growing in the green surface, no more than 8 inches from where the cup was cut.
It appeared that Atlanta had taken some heavy rains, and I hoped this was the reason for lack of maintenance.
After completing my round, I asked where the computer was so I could post to GHIN, I was told they did not have one.
Then I went in to the bar/restaurant area. The bar appeared well stocked, but there was no one there to serve food or beverage. Also, did not see a refreshment cart the whole time I was there. The "pro shop" did have a small selection of snacks and beverages for purchase.
All in all, not a positive experience.

Wide open course

Tuscany was an interesting course, I'm not sure if they had not mowed, after overseeing, or if they were setting up for US Open conditions.
The rough was so tall, it was difficult to locate your ball at times.
The fairways were at little on the shaggy side. There was some sort of a foam that was applied in a straight line, in intervals of about 4-5 feet, all over the fairway. It made it tough, at times, to find your ball.
The greens were slower than you would expect for a desert course.
Likely won't play again

Great course for the price

The reviews state this course is challenging, and they are right. Yet, the course is also fair.
Fairways lined by huge fir trees force you to stay in play. But, they also add to the charm of the course.
Loved all 18 holes, and will play again if I am in the area.

Best course in the valley

Always a favorite when I go to Palm Springs. The course is always in pristine shape.
I played with an employee of the Berger Foundation. He was telling me about how a certain PGA pro made comment that he would not play the Hope Classic, if Classic Club was included.
So, they donated the course, and it is now a "charitable donation" They chose to keep the price low, allowing for more play

Too much water

The Kona Country Cluib is by no means the high end resort golf course you see on the north end of the island. But, the staff is very friendly. Also, the layout takes you along the Kona coastline, with spectacular views.
The only draw back I had, was they apparently watered the couse heavily, the night befor I played. Many of my tee shots landed next to a divot, in the fairway. In a couple of instances, the ball actually plugged in the fairway.
Yes, I would play this course again, when I get back to Kona. The senior rate makes this course very affordable

Nice course, nice price

Hapuna is a very nice course, well laid out. The holes are not super long, but the fairways are tighter than most of the resort courses on Kona.
Fantastic views from all over the course. The staff was very friendly.
This is the sister course to Mauna Kea. The price is considerably less, but the service and staff are the same.

Fantastic course

Mauna Kea was all I hoped for. The course was in immaculate condition. They have an offer that allows you to pay for a round of golf, and get a golf shirt, for aout $15 more than the greens fees alone.
At the first tee, the starter offers you all of the bottled water or soda you would like. Also there are snacks available, at no additional charge. These are trail mix, fruit and granola bars.
The people I played with asked for souvenier ball markers (metal, not plastic), and we were each handed a half a dozen each.
The course is fairly wide open, and is very fair. Loved the views.
