Perfect Conditions, Perfect challenge, Perfectly Fair

We signed up for the Sunday Football Shotgun but there was not enough groups, so we simply tee'd off at 8:10AM. Fee included a tasty breakfast sandwich, sleeve of ProV1xs, and range balls.

Day started by a very friendly attendant bringing us 2 carts at our car. Off to the pro shop and got everything lined up quickly. Range was nice, but grass was a little sparse as it looked like the rotation for tee space is due up tomorrow. I loved the framing of the targets with traps and actual greens. Off to the practice putting green
to gauge the speed...whoa! The greens are fast....I mean FAST. We played the blue tees and the layout required cuts and draws off the tee with a smattering of traps in every fairway. Traps were in great condition along with the turf throughout the course. The greens are hard because not only are they fast, they are hard and players need to gauge the rollout on each and every shot. The course does play longer than the 6610 yards on the scorecard as a number of holes play up hill like #9. Hole is 423 on the card, but I hit a tee ball that normally travels 285 and because of the upward sloap, ended up being 250. The approach said 185, but because of the severe uphill, I hit my 240 hybrid and was off the back by 10 feet....All of the shorter par 4s are lined with tight tree-lines and bunkers, so it is very important to be long and accurate of the tee. The only reprieve is there is not a lick of water on the course so all three in our group did not loose a ball all day.

We all had a great time, played in 3:50 minutes, and will certainly be back soon!!

Harding has something great for everyone

Normally 5 stars, but the slowness of the greens dropped it back a bit...

I play Harding every 6-9 months and it is something our group of guys does as fun day trip from the South Bay. We had a blast yesterday (Monday) even after the 2.5" of rain over the weekend. We started at 12:20 and ended at 4:50. No waiting after the 3rd hole for the most part and the foursome behind us never waited on us. The course was in very good condition considering the rain, but because they couldn't mow, it played much longer than normal and the greens were very slow. The best part of the course is that it requires the ability to cut and draw the ball as well as hit low and high shots. Not your typical Muni course to say the least. We had a great time!

On a side note, Harding is much more enjoyable if you walk rather than ride because it is cart path only and the terrain is gentle outside of a couple of holes.

Not worth $1

It has been a year since I played The Ranch and while I had heard it was in bad shape, it was the only course left with morning times so I went for it. What a mistake!

2 Years ago, $45 was too much. Paid $80 today when $1 would have been too much. The original layout is tough....beyond tough and the fact that there is no range makes it even more tough. That is the expectation, but the unexpected was every single trap on the course is not managed...EVER....Overgrown waste areas is what they should be played as. That however was not the worst part. The fairways and tee boxes have been ravaged by wild boar and have left a mark on almost every hole. I was told that the course is waiting for a permit to kill or tranquilize the boar, but meanwhile it has ruined the coarse. It will be $Millions to repair and years before the course will be back to the original condition if it ever gets there.

The only positive is the staff. Very nice and courteous. If only the course lived up to 10% of the staff, I might return. At this point, it is 0% and not worth the lost balls that come with the table top conditions.....

Skip it!

Almost Perfect

This is my favorite local course because you get to use all different kinds of shots. Tight as well as wide tee shots, both cut and draw holes. Strategy off the tee on shorter par 4 holes is required.

Conditions:
-Greens are always fast and true
-Fairways are 95% good and only mildly effected by a couple years of drought. They are getting better.
-Sand traps are mostly un-raked or prepped on most days. It seems they rotate the raking so they hit them twice a week.

Staff is courteous and the marshall's generally keep play going.

Much better than Coyote Creek and Cinnabar.

The rate I paid was cheaper than Spring Valley! Wow!!
