Oak Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/25/2017The Best Golf Course in Irvine
Oak Creek is by far the nicest public golf course in Irvine. Its conveniently located right off the 5 freeway. The grounds were maintained extremely well. Everything from the entrance of the course, the driving range, tee boxes, fairways, greens and rough were all in great condition. The pace of play was the best I have ever encountered on an Orange County golf course; we finished the round in just about 4 hours with 4 golfers. The ranger made sure the pace of play was up to par and all staff members were very friendly and provided helpful tips about the holes prior to our round. The only downside to this course is the price tag. We paid $150 per person for an 8AM tee time on Saturday morning. Other than the greens fees, everything else about this course was great so I would definitely recommend it to any avid golfers in the Orange County area.
Redhawk Golf Club
Played On 02/20/2017Challenging Course That Is Maintained Very Well
This was my first time playing this course and it was on President's Day Holiday so the ranger/starter informed us that the round would be slower than usual. The round took over 5 hours to complete but this was the only negative thing about the course. The course manager, Michael, spoke with me about the pace of play after the round and was extremely understanding and offered his business card to contact him about the issue via email and he promised do what he has to do to "make it right" and make sure I come back. That is the first time a course manager has ever been that gracious and accommodating. Other than the delay and slow pace of play, everything else about this course was amazing. The staff friendliness was great, the clubhouse was gorgeous and the bar/grill amenities were top notch as well. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, rough and greens were all maintained extremely well. Each hole had its own unique feel and challenge which kept things interesting through all 18 holes. The course is only a few miles from the 15 Freeway so it is very easy to access. The location itself is nestled in the mountains which makes for a great backdrop on nearly every hole. I really enjoyed playing this course and I would highly recommend it to any avid golfer in the Temecula area. Needless to say, I will certainly be back in the near future.
San Juan Hills Golf Club
Played On 02/04/2017Unique Holes
This course is visually appealing with the first hole having a nice waterfall to kick off the round. Most of the fairways are pretty wide, and were nicely maintained, which is good for the average golfer who is not super consistent off the tee. The greens were not very difficult to read but they were a bit slow compared to the other courses in the area that I've played recently. The pace of play was excellent. I teed off in a threesome at 12:08PM and we finished the round at 4:30PM which is pretty quick for a busy weekend afternoon. The greens fees were relatively inexpensive which makes this course a great option for avid golfers in the Southern Orange County area.
Eagle Glen Golf Club
Played On 01/29/2017Sloped Greens, Washed Out Fairways, 5.5 Hour Round
The overall layout of the course is very scenic and challenging. The greens were very fast and pretty difficult to read but were immaculately maintained. The tee boxes were well maintained as well. The fairways were pretty rough in most areas with a lot of burned out grass and washed out dirt spots in certain downhill areas. The pace of play was five and a half hours AFTER a 30 minute delay due to a backup at the start of the round. We actually waited 25 minutes to play hole #5 because there were 2 groups in front of us waiting to tee off. After this hole, the pace sped up and the rest of the round was smooth sailing. My tee time was 12:00PM, we didn't tee off until 12:30PM due to the backup and then the slow pace of play had us wrapping up the round in the dark at 6:00PM. Despite the rough fairways and slow pace of play, this is is a great course at a reasonable rate.
Oso Creek Golf Course
Played On 01/28/2017Small, Local Course
This is a small, local course that is cheap to play and easy to get on with a spur of the moment decision. The tee boxes and greens were maintained well but the fairways were a bit overgrown in spots. Overall, this is a moderately challenging course for golfers looking to shape up their iron game with mostly Par 3's and a handful of short Par 4's.
Fullerton Golf Course
Played On 11/13/2016Decent Course
Overall, the course was in average shape. The layout of the holes was average, the greens/fairways/tee boxes were maintained pretty well and the pace of play was good as well. There doesn't seem to be much flow to the holes which is uncommon with most golf courses. The greens fees were relatively inexpensive so this is a decent course for the money, although I do think there are other courses in the area that are relatively the same price but a bit more challenging and maintained better.
Shorecliffs Golf Club
Played On 11/06/2016Cheap Round
This course is easy to get a tee time at a cheap price. The greens were maintained well, and the fairways and tee boxes were average at best. The course is very tight with steep slopes on both sides of the fairway for many holes so accurate shots are key to scoring well here. Overall, this is a cheap easy course.
LaTourette Golf Course
Played On 6/22/2013Concrete Fairways & Greens
This course was maintained well and was a fairly easy course with wide fairways and not many hazards in play. The fairways and greens were rock hard which is good for distance off the tee box because the ball gets a lot of roll but requires a lot of skill in spinning the ball in order to get it to sit on the green.
Spooky Brook Golf Course
Played On 6/14/2013This course has open fairways
I played this course on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty much wide open, not many groups in front or behind us. The course was in great shape. The greens and fairways were maintained very well and the value for your money is unbeatable. I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone in the Somerset, NJ area.
Rained a bunch on dormant fairways and there was flooding before you were lucky to play
