Las Sendas Golf Club
Played On 04/25/2020Capitalizing on COVID
I've played this course probably close to a 100 times in my life and I will never be back. Growing up my dad was a member here and it was considered one of the premier courses in all of Phoenix, not anymore. Myself and 3 golf buddies have played every Saturday for the last month( all during COVID )and every course allows or encourages players to take seperate carts, and it looked like Las Sendas did too but we were wrong. When checking in, we asked the cart guy if we could take seperate carts and he said it was fine. We get up the the starter and he asks us how many riders we have with us? We look a little confused and tell him we don't have any riders. He responds with "we have 240 players today so we don't have enough carts for that, or you can pay $25 for a rider per extra cart". My buddy responds with " even with everything going on right now in the world? And is it there aren't enough carts or you want us to pay $25 each for them?". The starter replies (I swear on my father's grave) "we are a semi private course and the government has no say on how we operate our business". I kid you not, he actually said that. We all looked at each other in disgust, loaded our bags onto our carts and started the round. After we got to the second hole I pulled up Golfnow to see what tee times were left today, there were 27 total tee times left.... but I thought there were 240 golfers? I'm seriously disgusted with the experience here today and someone who plays 75+ rounds of golf a year and has been coming to this course for 20+ years, I WILL NEVER BE BACK.

Played On 05/15/2020Great course for the $$
I've played out here a few times and it's always in good condition. Grass is starting to change so it was a little dry in the fairways but still very playable and you'll never see me complain for a few extra yards of roll. Greens and bunkers are in great shape and the course is huge, hard to miss fairways on most of the holes. Bang for the buck, it's up there. And only a 20 minute drive froma Chandler. Check it out!
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 05/09/2020Pete Dye never lets you have a full day
A course I always love to play but wonder why I don't make the drive more often. Greens were in excellent condition, fairways are starting to die off in a couple spots but still in overall great condition. Highly recommend making the journey out to play the only Pete Dye course left in PHX!
Desert Canyon Golf Club
Played On 05/02/2020Worth the drive!
I always enjoy playing this course. They check all of the boxes, great staff, great conditions, great price, spectacular views, and a tough little track that only plays 6700 or so from the tips. We will definitely be vack6!
Foothills Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2020Quarantine round
The course is in great shape, greens are rolling pure and price is hard to beat for overall quality. There's a fraction of the amount of people out there than there were a month ago. Took just about 4 hours to play at noon on a Saturday in March, can't beat it!
Bear Creek Golf Complex - Cub Course
Played On 02/28/2020One of the best bangs for the buck in the valley!
I've been playing this course for 20 years and it never gets old. It's a fun short course that's in great condition for always a great price!
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 02/19/2020Great course, poor service
Overall A+ course but beyond sub par service. Arrived to the course an hour before my tee time, went to drop my bag at the bag drop and no one was there so I just left my clubs unattended. Dropped the car and walked back up, still no one there, went inside and there were 4 staff members all standing around talking. Went back to the bag drop, grabbed my clubs and walked them out to the range before I finally asked where to take my clubs/get a cart. 5 minutes before tee time I head back to the cart area and ask where I should go. Guy points in a general direction of the first tee (there are 3 courses) and says the starter will grab me, so I head that way. Now it's 5 minutes past my tee time and I have yet to see said starter, so I head back to the cart area and inquire again, some dude comes whipping around the cart and just tells me to head off by myself( could have done that 15 minutes ago). When I finish the round I waited 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me standing there to get my clubs washed off, even though they helped the group behind me first. I had them drop the bag at the front so I could run and grab my car, when I grab my clubs they hadn't even been wiped off!!! For a high end resort course it was anything but high end service.
Encanto Golf Course
Played On 02/15/2020Quick round and greens.
Greens were in great shape and extremely challenging for a muni course. Overall a solid play, especially for the $$$.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Encanto Golf Course thanks you!
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 06/15/2019Punched Greens and bad cart
I understand aerating is part of the game but that needs to be disclosed when you're booking a round. I specifically avoided booking two other courses because they were advertising punched Greens. They also have an awful standing water issue, there were legit hundreds of puddles all over the course.
The cart we were provided has a bad parking brake, it literally would not stick. We either had to find a perfectly flat spot to stop or rest the front bumper onto the back bumper of our playing partners cart. Then on the 16th green we went to get into the cart and the tire was completely flat. When they came and swapped us new carts, we told the cart guy about the brake he says "that was tends to do that". Then why use it? Fix the darn thing. Definitely will not be back.
Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 03/16/2019Top 3 slowest rounds ever
Round took 4:50 mins to play. On 3 separate tee boxes there were 3 groups waiting to hit. They start groups off 6 minutes apart and then there are 3 par 3's on the back within 6 holes so it's just bad equation right off the bat, Then throw in 50% walkers, you're in for a LOOOONG day. Greens and fairways were in good shape, rough doesn't even appear to be watered at all. I've played here before and I'll play here again because of the price but the staff is very unfriendly and the pace of play is as about as bad as it gets. Play Ken McDonald, Kokpelli or Bear Creek if you're looking for a comparable yet friendly/faster course in the area.
Thank you for the review. We're sorry to hear about your negative experience at the course. As part of the new management company we value pace of play and make it a priority to ensure all our golfers have a great time. One of the new items we've changed since taking over is the start time between groups. We'd love to have you join us again soon to improve your next experience. Please give our golfshop a call and ask for Andrew our Director of Sales and Services he'll help you in getting that next tee time!
The Duke at Rancho El Dorado
Played On 11/27/2016Worst bag service you'll get for the money
The course itself is in great conditions and is reasonably priced. The poor review is for the consistently rude, untimely service from one of the bag/cart boys. My buddies and I have played this course 5 times over the last 2 months and the same bag boy has been at the bag drop off every time. We pull our car up, bag boys doesn't move, we tell him our tee time, he says you'll be in the two carts all the way over there and then just stands there. When we purchase range balls before the round you're instructed to walk the receipt back out the the bag boy for the bucket of balls. We did this our first time out and a different bag boy grabbed the bucket, filled it with balls and put it in our cart. The 2nd and 3rd time we did this we encountered said bag boy, he pointed to a pile of empty buckets and said the ball are in there, let me get your receipt and walked away. WHAT IS THE POINT OF YOUR JOB?!?! WHY DO YOU COME TO WORK?!?! You dont touch bags, balls, or carts to my knowledge. Not to mention his appearance is anything but professional. He is an older gentleman, always unshaven, moderately overweight, his shirt it has yet to be fully tucked in to his pants that are sagging below his butt with a belt that's two notches two loose. Sad to say, 5 of the 6 of us who have played there over the last 2 months are Gold Card member holders but ultimately, we will most likely not be renewing for 2017 unless the service issues are quickly fixed. There are too many great courses in the Phoenix area to put up with this kind of stuff
Thanks for your response. I want to apology for the less then par service. Please email me so we can discuss the situation further...

Myself and my 3 playing partners all drove ourselves to the course and none of us live together so we were eligible for additional carts? I'm confused. You guys can't seem to keep your story straight, first it's because you don't have enough carts, then it's because we rode together, then it's because it's $25 and you have been operating this way for years. Bottom line is you are trying to recover your bottom line. "We are offering 75% green fees to help you through these times". No, you're offering 75% rates and your entire pro shop is on sale because your business is failing. Instead of taking the (smart) appropriate approach and taking care of your customers, you try and capitalize for every dollar you can. Good luck being a semi private course which is just the snobby way of saying your public!
Thank you for being such a loyal customer of Las Sendas. As you mentioned in your review, you have played here week after week for years now. I am guessing this is because you have felt the value made it worthwhile coming back time and time again. We provide complimentary carts to individuals who arrive separately from others. However if you arrive with someone else then you are not practicing Social Distancing with that individual and therefore you are then just taking advantage of a horrific health issue! We require enough carts to meet the demand each day, just like toilet paper if you take it all there is not enough for everyone else! Arrive individually and we will gladly provide you with a complimentary sanitized golf cart. Arrive with another person and you will be charged if you want to take 2 carts. We look forward to seeing you back at Las Sendas in the future! Have a great day and happy golfing!
