Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2019Please speed up play
This is a fun little course that is always in good shape. Greens are always consistently good for as much play as they get. My complaint the last few times has been the pace of play. This course should never be over 4 hours, let alone 4 1/2. There are just too many people and they play way too slowly. It used to be that even on a slow day, you could play Mry. Pines in 3 1/2 hours no matter what. Not any more.

Interesting, fun layout and in real good shape. Shorter course requiring accuracy.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 07/07/2014always nice round
Greens in very good shape. Nice level of difficulty to be challenging but very fair. This course plays well from beginner to moderate golfer. Not real long for advanced big hitters. They do a good job keeping this course in nice shape. Greens, tee boxes, fairways, rough...can't complain about any of it. Wish it was slightly less expensive and little bit faster pace of play, but hey, I always feel that way.

Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 03/12/2014terrible manager response to aeration complaint
I have played this course fairly regularly for years using golfnow.com and I have to say it is a fun course with a nice layout, usually in average condition.
The reason for this bad review is based on the fact that yesterday I showed up with a pre-paid deal bought a week early to guarantee a threesome only to find all the greens aerated and totally unplayable.
When I told the manager I was disappointed, his response was that it was golfnow's fault and that we should feel lucky to have paid $25 because it was a great deal. I told him that I agreed if the greens were playable, but that I thought I should at least get the $12 deal given to the fourth person who was added to our group. He totally dismissed me saying if I were a member he would be able to help me and why wasn't I a member? This kind of bad attitude and disdain for someone he thinks is getting too good a deal continued. I say don't be on golfnow.com if you don't want that business!!! And don't treat us like a bunch of bums.
I will have a real hard time going back there no matter how good the deal and and I will tell people not to be surprised at being considered a second class citizen by a management with no customer service ability.
P.S. I called golfnow.com and they handled the problem perfectly and immediately. Thanks for the great website and service.
The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course
Played On 01/15/2014Great courses
Great courses in fantastic shape. Beautiful wiews. Nice layout. Tough greens. Maybe only knock would be a couple greens so steep they are unfair with certain pin placements. If you putt the ball uphill three feet and miss, it could roll all the way back down the hill.
West at Rancho Canada Golf Club
Played On 01/02/2014Easy to find faults with course but I love it anyway
Worst fault is that flat tee boxes don't exist. Greens can be little bumpy and very flat and straight in general. Sometimes a lot of leaves make finding balls difficult and a few greens hard to putt, But...
I just love both Rancho Canada courses. All the holes are interesting and unique, with quite a few over the river. Some very hard holes. Some easy. It is just a fun course for the average golfer like myself and most my friends. Is it any of the Pebble Beach courses or Bayonet/Blackhorse? Of course not... but for the price, it is a great value and a lot of fun.
