Savannah Country Club
Played On 11/07/2017Nice Course
I played Wilmington Island while vacationing in Savannah with my family. I was very interested to play once I learned it was a Donald Ross design. The course is very nice and was in great shape, although the greens were a little bit on the slow end. We arrived before the pro shop opened and had a great conversation with the starter who has been at the course for a very long time. We warmed up at the driving range before the round but we had to stay on the mats, which was a tad bit frustrating. Overall, it is a very nice course for the money.
The Club at Savannah Harbor
Played On 11/03/2017Best Public Course in Savannah
I really enjoyed the Club at Savannah Harbor. We played right after over seeding which meant cart path only and a slower pace of play, especially since it was our first time playing the course. The layout is excellent with great views throughout and the course itself is very fair, but with high risk, high reward gambles. I will admit that few of them got the best me. We played a few times while vacationing in Savannah and this was the best public course we found.
Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course
Played On 09/22/2017Best in Michigan
For years I had been hearing about the great Arcadia Bluffs. I thought there was no way it would live up to the hype. It does. The layout of the course is fantastic and the changes in elevation need to been seen to be believed. It is a fair but challenging course. Even when your ball goes in the high stuff, most of the time you are able to find it and play it. It is not cheap to play, but the good courses rarely are. There only negative was that there were A LOT of ball marks on the greens. You would think the golfers who spend the money to play would care enough to fix their ball marks.
Forest Dunes Golf Club

A top 2 public course and Michigan. It is a coin flip between this and Arcadia Bluffs, just depending on preference. What I love about Forest Dunes is that it is always in fabulous shape. The name suits the course as it is forest on the front 9 and dunes on the back. If the wind picks up on the back nine, your round can change in an instant. I highly recommend Forest Dunes. I still haven't played the Loop Course yet, because for the same price, I can't imagine it could surpass the Dunes course.
Royal Malta Golf Club
Played On 06/16/2017Golf in Malta
The Royal Malta golf course is an undiscovered jewel of the island. It is the only golf course in Malta and it is a relatively short course. However, it was in great shape, with a friendly staff and excellent pace of play. I played as single and my wife rode in the cart reading a book. It took me about 3 hours to finish 18 holes. After the round we enjoyed a Lord Chambray from the 19th hole bar overlooking the 2nd green. It is must if you are a golfer vacationing or staying in Malta.
Walton Heath Golf Club - Old Course
Played On 01/20/2017Welcomed Guest
While in London last year I had the chance to play to Old Course at Walton Heath, and it was such a treat. The customer service was excellent from the moment I walked in the door. My tee time made months in advance was lost and there was an issue since I was not a member. Luckily, it was the off season and they were able to squeeze me out as a single before their member foursomes. The assistant pro was excellent and he gave me a tour of the clubhouse after my round. The history of this golf course was unbelievable. The course itself played very difficult, especially within the hardened greens of January, but I still had a fantastic time. The only small issues were that there was no driving range, only a shed and a net to warm up into. Also the course seems to be public ground where people walk their dogs and I had to wait about 10 minutes for two women walking their dogs and chatting while I was trying to tee off on hole 15. Other than that, everything was top notch!
