Highlands Reserve Golf Club
Played On 05/04/20175 Stars
Of the 4 courses I played on this vacation, this was by far my favourite. Great fairways and the toughest greens to read but in fantastic shape. A lot of elevation changes to make you think strategically about your game. The staff here were A+ and very friendly. Pace of play was fantastic, we got around the course in 3 hours. First 5 star rating I've given but well deserved. I will definitely play this course on my next trip to Orlando.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 05/02/2017Twilight Tee Time
You arrive at a beautiful club house/pro shop with valet parking to check in. A very friendly gentleman took our clubs and brought them to a cart out back which was equipped with complimentary tees and a gps. The course was in great shape despite the rain they had that morning as it drained very well and no standing water was found. The greens, except for 1, were in great shape and rolled very quickly, again despite the rain. We played from the white tees, which for a mid handicapper made the course quite long, and if I play again I would play from the middle tees. When the round was finished our clubs were cleaned and dropped off in the pickup area. The only complaint I have were that the amenities were shut down just after we started. There was no snack cart after 4pm, so no where to get a drink, a beer or a snack during our round. And when we finished at approximately 7pm the clubhouse was closed, so again, no where to grab a beer after the round.
I would definitely play this course again, although I would recommend playing earlier in the day.
Kissimmee Golf Club
Played On 04/28/2017Quick 18 hole round
We arrived for our round of golf and we were sent out as we arrived, approx 10 mins before our tee time. There were only 2 of us in our group and there were a couple of other groups throughout the course, and once we caught up to a foursome we passed through right away. Took less than 3 hours to get around the course. Club house was nothing extraordinary but equipped with what you need. You could access a couple of vending machines 5 times for cold drinks. Fairways were good considering the drought ongoing in Orlando with a couple of rough spots. Greens were painted a dark green and with the exception of 2, they were soft and in very good shape. The paint made for easy identification from any part of the hole. Overall a good morning of golf for a great price ($25 w/ cart) and I would recommend this course to a friend!
The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort
Played On 04/25/2017Great first round of golf on vacation
Despite the weather and the lack of rain in central Florida the course conditions hold up quite well. Fairways were still green with the scattered dry spot, the greens were in great condition, considering the weather, with only minimal dry/patchy spots but they rolled true. Some of the water hazards no longer have any water in them but are clearly marked. Staff was very friendly including bag pickup and drop off at our vehicle with a cleaning. Over 18 holes we seen the snack cart 7 times and they provided us with some ice for our cooler. Got a "hot deal" on Golfnow which made the price great. The only complaint, which was not the fault of the course, was the pace of play. We got stuck behind a slow foursome and threesome which made our round ~4.5 hours. Overall, it was a great course to play my first round of the year, and the first round vacation.
