SilverRock Resort
Played On 05/12/2017Amazing course! Best in the valley.
This has to the the most beautiful course in Palm Springs area. The fairways are so lush and smooth, i had trouble finding any divots. Greens were great, and staff were very friendly. The only reason I gave them a 4 for "course conditions" is because we had to play the front 9 twice, as the back 9 is closed for some redesign and the addition of a hotel on the property. That should make Silver Rock a top destination resort for golf lovers. I've played most of the surrounding courses, and this place tops them all.
Country Club of Silver Springs Shores
Played On 08/14/2016Course has really gone downhill
We were a two-some, and we're placed right behind some sort of "event," which appeared to be a "who's the worst golfer" championship. We spent more time waiting than playing, waiting on every single shot for the entire round, while watching the group ahead searching the woods and lakes for their golf balls. The round took over 4.5 hours on a course we should have finished in well under four hours. They could have given us the option to start on the back 9, and we'd have had clear sailing all the way. The course was also in bad shape. Barely missing the fairway meant trying to find your ball buried in the deep, shaggy, uncared for rough. Most greens had some disease issues, but still putted fairly well. We've played this course many times, and it seems to have gotten worries every time. This was probably the last time we'll be playing there.
Candler Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/12/2014Great course, bad price.
Before say anything negative, let me say that I love this golf course. That said I have to tell you that in this area of Florida I can play dozens of nice courses for around during $30. Candler Hills is one of the nicer courses in the area and is always in great shape, but unless you find a deal on GolfNow or some othe place, expect to part with $50 or more after tax and that doesn't include range balls. The general feeling is that they cater to their members, which is good, but they do so at the expense of us other poor schmucks who would like to play there. Unfortunately, this public course doesn't seem to care about attracting the public. You can play Del Webb's Stone Creek, a half mile up the road for around $30-35 (or less on Golfnow) and enjoy a great round on a great course.
Stone Creek Golf Club
Played On 5/25/2013Best green in Marion County!
I play Stone Creek a lot, and the course is always in great shape, the staff is very friendly, the price is right, and the greens are the best around. I've played most of the courses in the county, and the greens at Stone Creek are without doubt the best maintained and cared for anywhere around. Fairways are always in good shape, and the rough is playable too. After your round, you can enjoy the "golfer's special," burger, fries and a beer for about $8.
