Martinsville Country Club
Played On 09/02/2019Maintainence needed! Greens way too slow
This is a great little course but it needs some attention. Seems like owners mught be losing interest. Lots of bare areas on fairways and greens. Greens are left too long and are very slow, not fun to have to pound putts to get them to hole. Some bunkers are horrible/unplayable, others would be ok if they were maintained. Would like to see some people working on the course besides just cutting grass.

This course has always been a favorite but my last visit was a big disappointment. The signature hole, number 9, is closed and is being played as a makshift par 3. Many trees are being removed, why? The bunkers are in terrible shape. The waste areas are in terrible shape. During our round on a very nice, sunny day we saw no one on the entire course that was doing anything about the bunkers, which were mostly unplayable. Sadly, I will not be playing this course again unless I find that the conditions have improved.

This course has steadily gone downhill in recent years, its obvious that they are not generating enough money to keep up this course and probably are not paying a greenskeeper enough for them to care about maintaining this course. Its too bad because this is a nice layout and could be a very nice course. I used to play this course regularly but I will not be back after this visit. Would rather pay more to play a course in good condition. Would not surprise me if this course closes soon.
I have to agree. I have always liked this course, but they just aren't taking care of it. I make tee times for a group of retired golfers and this was one of the courses we enjoyed playing. This Spring you could tell they had taken care of the weeds on the front 9. Went back 10/11 and the back 9 was still covered with weeds.Really a shame.

Have played this course for many years. It is a decent course, not great, but has usually been kept up nicely and was enjoyable to play. While I admit iit is early in the season, I have to say that I was disappointed to find that almost every bunker on the course was bad and we never saw anyone doing any work on any of them. Only saw a couple of persons who were mowing. Also, not sure what is going on on hole #2, looks like they are trying to add some bunkers or waste areas on the left side but all that I see is a large area with zero grass and large rocks making it impossible to play out of??? Looks like they have spent a lot of dollars on the practice facility and the event center, but the course is being neglected.

Played On 09/02/2016Great layout but needs attention
This is a great golf course and challenging but if you play from the correct tees for your ability it can be very playable. The course was in overall good condition but many of the bunkers were UNPLAYABLE, while others were excellent. And we did not see any people working on the bunkers that were bad. The greens were nice and fast but had tons of unrepaired ball marks and were bumpy. I believe it is the responsibility of the course management/employees to make it very clear to all golfers that they expect them to repair ball marks and divots and rake traps. But it is amazing that hardly anyone at most golf course ever mentions this when you check in, and rarely do you see reminders on the course. It is very discouraging to pay good money to play a nice course and have to contend with greens that are full of ball marks.
Grande Dunes Resort Club
Played On 02/02/2016Nice course, good layout, sad greens!
This is one of the premier courses in MB and commands a premium fee, so why aren't the greens in as good or better condition as many of the less expensive venues? Greens were very bumpy, had tracks that looked like a small bulldozer had been driven back and forth over them and many of them had fresh sand that had been applied but not smoothed over, leaving a thick layer on top of the surfaces. Almost impossible to make a putt over a few feet. The rest of the course was in very nice condition, but the condition of the greens made this a unenjoyable experience!

Played On 01/29/2016Very nice condition, great greens!
This is a very nice golf course that always seems to be in good condition. I spend about a month in Jan-Feb in the area and play about 10-15 rounds of golf. Though this is one of the less expensive venues I play, the condition is better than a lot of others in the area. This year, although it was very wet, the course was in great shape and the greens were the best that I played. It proves that just because its wintertime it doesn't mean that the greens must be in bad shape. They obviously have a great greenskeeper who takes pride in his craft! Congratulations!
The Links at Heartland Crossing
Played On 10/01/2015Great Layout....not so great condition.
Have played this course many times, used to be one of my favorites, but condition of the course has deteriorated in the past several years, mainly the bunkers. If the bunkers cannot be maintained they should be removed/replaced with grass. They keep offering deals to get play, but if they would get the course in better condition they could charge a decent price and still attract players. Side note to staff: Your canned responses to comments from reviewers do not come across as genuine, better to leave them out. The fact is that little has been done for some time to "improve" the course conditions, which have been on a downward spiral for many years.
Thank you indglfr for your review and feedback. We loving having you out at the course and we look forward to doing everything possible to make sure you have a great experience. We are working hard on course conditions and we hope you will give us another try. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon.
We do apologize for your experience on your most recent visit. We are actively renovating several major areas of the golf course in our off season, which we have posted signage on the website, around clubhouse and reminders from our staff prior to tee off. Mother nature has been very unkind to us during this time period. We certainly want our customers to enjoy their experience at the Edge. If you wish to follow up we would like to have you back for a more pleasurable experience. Please visit our website and email me directly for an update on our renovations.
