Marina Vallarta Golf Club

I have never seen desert golf as beautiful as this. Pristine desert with no homes on the course. More cactus varieties and other plants plus jackrabbits than you can imagine. It is a challenge, mainly due to extensive bunkering and undulating greens. Don't worry about your score. It's worth the drive. I played it on a Friday in March for about $114 and it was worth every penny.
Good not great
Didn't help that nobody revealed that they top dress every Wednesday. Now you know. The course aesthetically is nice. One strange quirk (I'm sure to keep construction and maintenance costs low) is that there are no sand bunkers. There are, instead a large number of waste areas that are basically hard pan covered with a very thin layer of a sort of white chat like material. These are green side as well. Be warned. When a ball hits these areas it will bounce and roll a long way. Most of the greens are elevated and fairways are crowned so balls tend to kick laterally. In their defense, I was not hitting the greens this day and zero course knowledge didn't help. I wouldn't rule it out, but for $150 I expected more.
