Village Links Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2020Great father's day weekend round
Played an early morning round with my 12-year-old for father's day. The course was packed with grandfathers, fathers, and sons out enjoying the weather. Play was a bit slow, as expected on a day like that. The course is in great condition. The tee boxes were about due for a reset to give some bare patches a chance to heal. the fairways, bunkers, and greens were all in terrific shape. The course is short, and mostly forgiving if you are long or short off the tee. missing left or right will find you some trouble in the sand. Great course for walking with no much steep elevation change.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 08/06/2017Good course - layout covers a lot of ground
Wentworth is a nice course in the Mount Washington Valley area. During my last round there they had recently aerated the greens, but worked hard (and had hard rains) to help get them back into good playing condition. Unfortunately, the previous days rains also left many waterlogged spots on the fairways and lots of debris.
the course layout is pretty far ranging, having you cross a road twice, and wind through an neighborhood at times, but this provides a lot of character and good scenery.
the course plays short, with only a few opportunities to drive the ball far, but the fairways are open enough that finding a bad shot isn't too hard.
the greens were not in great shape during our round, but had very recently been aerated, and the starter, and pro shop attendant both made sure we were aware of the conditions.
Fully stocked and large pro shop. Food and beverage options a short walk from the parking lot.
Overall I enjoyed this course, and will likely play it again next time I'm in the MWV.
North Conway Country Club
Played On 07/09/2017Wide open, but long
It's hard to lose a ball here (I tried!). The fairways are wide, the rough is short and hazards are minimal. The holes play long though, especially the 200 yard par 3 7th. Layup space is friendly, and the greens are pretty big.
There is a beer cart (on weekends at least) but it wasn't very active.
