On course amenties

We played this course on a very hot day, over 100 degrees. The course offers drinking water on several holes also towels and cups if you do not bring your own. On hole 13 the players assistant came by with ice cold towels for all of us. Perfect timing because the heat was starting to affect us. Plus the towels were different colours so you didn't have to worry about mixing yours up with your partner. These types of gestures go along way in customer service.

Well done Whirlwind. We will see you next year. Thank you.

PS. The pro shop has a very nice selection of ladies wear and great selection of Footjoy shoes.

Great course to challenge your game.

I've played Silver Rock at least 15 times over the past 3 years. I finally feel I can review this course and give my honest opinion. I will start with the service. It's 5 star, from the guys at the bag drop, in the pro shop, the starter gives a good explanation of the course (restrooms, water), how the GPS works etc. When you finish your game the staff will clean your clubs and always ask how your game was and chat with you. Very friendly. Don't forget to tip please. FYI. you will receive a bottle of water and there is filtered hot and cold water at 6 and 14.

The course. I play from January to April so I don't know how the course is after those months. However the fairways are in great condition. The greens are a little beat up. Several ball marks on all of them. But with the amount of groups that play each day is not to surprising. Lots of waste bunkers that are raked each days. The sand traps are plentiful and big. I wish they would put out a few more rakes. The sand can be a little inconsistent from hole to hole.
I'm still learning how to play this course. There are a few holes you can play differently. ( driver or 3 wood). You can go for the big drive but the sand and water come into play. Lots of water plus the canel is in play on the back nine. Most of the fairways are fairly wide with good landing areas, a couple of blind holes 9 and 11. Hole 15 visually very intimadating. Very narrow with the canel on one side and waster bunkers on the other. Your second shot will be the toughest of the day. For women it's rated the 4th hardest and for men it's the 2nd hardest. You will use all the clubs in your bag on this course.

If you are debating on wether to play this course or not..play. Just remember to keep your ego in check and play conservative and you will score well. Challenge the "Rock" and your score might not be that good but if you do play well you will be on cloud nine for a few days. Have fun I always do regardless of my score.
