The review posted by Tony7138298 on March 12, 2017 is inacurate as the. many guests who witnessed their bahavior on course and in the Clubhouse would aattest t to.
. I am the Starter referred to and I proudly work as a volunteer on Fridays and some Saturdays. I do my very best to make people on our great and challenging course welcome. We are a very busy course and there are occasions when we have some problems with PACE OF PLAY. We are one of a few courses in our area who. can monitor slow play through tbe GPS system on tbe carts.and Dispatcb a Marshall.to clear.bottlenecks.
Sad to have, very occasionally, to deal with situations where people who have no regard for the enjoyment of otber golfers
Cape Neddick Country Club
Played On 07/29/2015Not worth the price
Very hard to find and disappointing when you get there. The rack rate for 18 holes with cart was $80 for 18 holes. Course maintainance was poor, particularly in the pitching areas around the greens. Seemed that they did not have a full irrigation system as they were watering the green manually. I play numerous courses in New Hampshire that are well maintained with immaculate greens and never pay more than $40 for 18 holes. This course is worth $30-35 max. Played with a couple from Baltimore who were on vacation and they were very disappointed in the course.
Magnolia Plantation Golf Club
Played On 11/28/2014Better than expected!!! Should be quite good by January
When I looked at Golfnow.com; the reviews seemed to be pretty bad but I'm glad that I played and I definitely want to come back in a month or so when I think it will be playing quite well. The group that is running the course now are working very hard to get it back in good shape. The fairways and tees have all be overseeded with rye which is just starting to be trimmed. The greens are better than some of them look. The areas around the greens, particularly on false fronts were rough in places and the course does not drain as well as most Florida courses because it is in the Weikiva River Basin. I spoke with a couple of members who have stayed through all the courses problems, change of ownerships etc and they stated that the course is shaping up to be in the best condition in the past 8 years.
I wanted to write this review to try to give a balanced perspective to what people can expect. The layout is excellent and calls for a lot of strategic golf shot placement. There is water on all bar 3 holes but most of the holes give you a chance to stay away from the water, and there a number of challenging doglegs. The par 3's are all good and #5 and #16 are long and challenging par 5s.
The Clubhouse is pretty sparse and food & beverage only covers the basics. The focus is clearly on getting the course up to scratch and increasing the rounds played, which will happen if things continue to improve. I would encourage all levels of golfer to reward the team that is bring this course back by giving it a try. There are 5 sets of tees from the tips at 7175yds to the Reds at 5240.
