Quarry Pines Golf Club
Played On 11/12/2016You will have time to enjoy the beauty
This is a very beautiful golf public course. It is in great condition and can be fun at any level. Some of the hole create back logs and unfortunately the 4 hour round can quickly turn into 4.5 to 5 hours. Best to play in late afternoon and avoid the crowds and delays. Some advice to new players, take inexpensive balls and don't spend any time looking for balls in ravines or heavy gorse.
Forest Park Golf Course - Red Bud
Played On 09/04/2016Scenic plus lots of fun
The course layout is good and the conditions are good. The real treat of this golf course is the constant availability of scenic views. Start with the lush forests and beautiful trees, follow that with beautiful ponds and lakes. If that isn't enough there are portraits of the St. Louis Art Museum that are magnificent. Lastly a white tailed fox trotted across the fairway.
I played with local residents who knew lots of historical aspects of Forest Park and it made for a wonderful day of golf.
Silverbell Municipal Golf Course
Played On 12/07/2014Slow Play
The course was fine, the greens were fine, the weather was good but the round took 5 hours. When rounds take this long there is a problem at the front desk and this needs to change.
El Rio Golf Course
Played On 12/05/2014Good day of Golf
The course has so much history as the Tucson Open and it is the same exact course, it is fun to imagine the past and the fun the pro's had playing this course.
The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley
Played On 11/15/2014Great fun and beauty
This course can be challenging due to the varying terrain; judging distances to carry appear shorter so having a GPS is useful. The beauty of the mountain vistas is worth the fee, the golf course is a very nice extra.
Arizona National Golf Club
Played On 08/09/2014Good not great
The fairway grass is thin, but is sufficient. The greens are consistently in good condition. The staff is almost missing in amount of on site people but this should not affect your round.
Golf Club at Vistoso
Played On 07/19/2014A visual treat
This may be the best public course for the free amenities, views and lush desert. The course has a great design which lends itself to all levels of golfers. The only problem that comes from summer rates is slow play from golfers who chose to play from tees that are above their level. The course is well maintained, the bunkers have good sand, the greens are lush and the fairways have a good stand of grass.
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 10/9/2013Best views in Tucson
Due to October reseeding cart path only was in play; the good news is there was plenty of great views to admire and we were done in less than 4 hours. This is the closest experience a Tucson golfer will have to enjoying an ambiance found in places like Pebble Beach and Augusta.
El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Pusch X9 Course
Played On 09/15/2013Humbling Experience
The course has an attractive appeal due to the location at the base of the Catalina Mountains but the effects of the mountains are dramatic on the greens (which are small). It is fun to play but if scoring is the objective it can be a very humbling experience.
Crooked Tree Golf Course
Played On 4/12/2013A well maintained course
The clubhouse, the fairways and greens are all key in great shape. The staff is very helpful and knows how to manage the tee times and keep the pace moving.
MountainView Country Club
