Links style Norman course with lots of wind

Played mid morning on links style International Norman course with British Isle winds. Course was in good shape despite lack of rain in Florida. Tee boxes were in excellent shape; fairways were in good shape, hard and ball rolled out; greens rolled very true and moderately fast for putting but shots from fairway consistently rolled off greens despite good iron and approach shots. It was fun to play, pace was good and would recommend to others wishing to play a resort links course. Course staff were excellent and pleasant. Overall, very good experience.

Great course gone bad

Played this course midday for a discounted rate. Some warnings that course was under repair but this course also had major issues back in November 2015. Senior housing development started amidst the course but no effort is apparent to maintain yet alone improve this course. The tee boxes are not too bad but fairways are dry and often hitting off of deadpan. Construction is a mess all along the middle of the course. The greens are in poor condition with sanded areas and bare spots making very poor putting surfaces. I am told this used to be a great course but not now. The staff make no effort to mitigate negative impressions of the course. Not clear what the future is for the course. Nice resort but poor golf course. Big disappointment and would not recommend.

Hot Deal at Fairway Hills

I booked a "hot deal" which was an excellent price. I played alone and the pace was great although conditions were very wet from previous day rain and course was cart path only. Carts were brand new and just being unloaded from the truck at the course. Course still recovering from storm damage that causes players to back track from hole #6 back past #1-5 and then #8-9 to get to hole #7; very awkward but with only few players there was no danger driving back into oncoming players and balls but totally not walkable due to distance from hole 6 back to hole 7. Greens were in fair shape at best, some had bare areas and others showed evidence of sod patches. Overall, not bad for late fall/early winter golf. Course is tight and chance to lose balls is high. Course is not worth the usual rate but for hot deal was a very good price.

Hot price but overseeding

We got a hot price and great weather. No one at the course mentioned over seeding process and unmoved greens, fairways and tee boxes. It made for an unusual round indeed. The layout was good and interesting with resort type open space, lots of bunkers and waste areas. Simple mention of course conditions and appropriate pricing would have made our experience more positive.

Unexpected aeration

Unexpectedly the fairways were being aerated while we were playing and the greens had just been or recently aerated and covered with sand. No mention of this was made during check in. Ball paths in the sand were apparent on the greens. When it rained during the round, balls rolling on the greens were covered in sand as they made their way to the hole. The new clubhouse is an improvement in appearance with upscale food and beverage but the golf shop still lacks character or distinction. Upscale price, below par experience.

Challenging course, water and sand plentiful; good value

Course has undergone restoration. Great condition, helpful welcoming staff. Course is quite challenging for the average golfer playing from the white tees. Lots of fairway and green side bunkers. Water comes into play on many holes. Par 3s are challenging based upon distance, water and guarded by bunkers.
Overall great experience,; I look forward to scoring better on a return visit.

Super friendly staff; free coffee, cookies, yardage guide; average course

The course is reasonably well maintained. Fairly open layout, average difficulty, greens and fairways were in good shape. A good deal for the price and nice to play some warm weather golf.
The pace of play was Ok but slow due to pair in our foursome with little ability for the game of golf.

Links style course, lots of bunkers, a few bumpy greens

Mercer County East course is a links style course; fairly open with exception of a couple of holes on back nine where tree stands line the fairways. Lots of fairway and greenside bunkers that are difficult to avoid but bunkers were in good condition. Overall condition of the course was good/very good although the greens on a few holes were bumpy but otherwise in good shape. The rain canopy on the back of the cart was torn and would not stay in upright position which interfered with club transfer in and out of golf bag.

Good course, friendly staff, appeals to weekend golfer

Fall is a great time for golf. Courses are green and in great condition. Daylight hours are shorter. Course was busy on an October Saturday. Friendly staff! Course provides variety of hole layouts and will appeal to the weekend golfer. The price with cart was excellent as booked through GolfNow.
