Turkey Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/20/2018Few turkeys at Turkey Creek
I have heard that Turkey Creek was a nice but challenging course, located in the town of Lincoln (CA). So, my buddy and I gave it a whirl.
The golf shop staff were friendly and helpful, pointing out hazards. The tee boxes were clean; the second cut and "ruff" was shot so making a mis-hit was possible. There is undulation on the fairways that makes mis-hits a challenge (the ball is either above/below your. feet).
Overall, a great experience. With the exception of the slow foursome we had to follow, it was a perfect day.
Looking forward to going back.

Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club
Played On 06/12/2018Hidden gem
My buddy and I were looking for a different place to play, so after a search online, I found Plumas Lake Golf Club. Cool place in the middle of nowhere....nice!
The greens were in great shape, like the tee boxes. The rough was mowed, limiting the likelihood of lost balls. The course has. a revenue running through it, so there are plenty of challenges during 18 holes. The elevation changes and dog-legged right/left turns cause you to turn on the course management mentality.
We started the day with breakfast, which was terrific. We finished the day with a hotdog and pitcher of beer, which was a welcome relief on a hot day. Staff were friendly and helpful.
I am looking forward to going back.
The Lakes Course at Red Hawk
Played On 03/03/2018Hills and fun
While it can get chilly playing golf in Reno, NV. In March, it can be fun too. I was fortunate enough to get paired up with a threesome of buddies. Besides enjoying some terrific views of the snow capped mountains, I laughed at a lot of funny commentary too. The Hills Course is like the name implies, up and down with plenty of elevation changes. Not a walking course.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The ProShop staff helped with course explanation and described some of the hole locations. The starter was friendly and accommodating. I brought my own “stuff” so I didn’t need the cart bar, but it looked well stocked.
I enjoyed the trip and am looking forward to the next time.
Lakes Course at Genoa Lakes Golf Club
Played On 07/31/2017Nice greens
I last played this course about 3-4 years ago. Today, I was disappointed to see the fairways drying up. Most of the ruff areas were mowed so it was not too difficult to find your ball. The greens had a nice feel; soft and smooth. The greens allowed the ball to roll true. Because this is the "Lakes" course, there was plenty of water to provide a challenge. The views of the mountains provided a nice backdrop. Overall, good but not as good as it once was.

Wolf Run Golf Club
Played On 06/28/2015Wolf Run GC Reno June 2015
A beautiful course, with friendly staff and well maintained fairways and greens. If you can keep it straight, you will love the long fairways. Otherwise, bring extras for mulligans. Looking forward to playing it again.

Pace of play was great, very little waiting. Fairways and greens were very well maintained. Course is one of the best muni courses that I have ever played.
Teal Bend Golf Club
Played On 03/14/2015Teal Bend airport
If jet engines don't distract your concentration, golf Teal Bend. The course is located a short distance from Sacramento International Airport, and on a few holes you can see the jets parking/landing.
The course offers mature trees and roughs. There is water, undulation, dog-leg fairways, and challenging par-3s.
We had a foursome, and enjoyed the experience. We ordered a good lunch from the 9th tee. Overall, a good experience.
The Club at ArrowCreek - Legend Course
Played On 01/19/2015The Club at Arrow Creek, Reno Jan 2015
Booked a trip to Reno over the MLK holiday in January. Played three courses over three days; Arrow Creek was day three. Newer course, recent aeration, clean with scenic views. Located in a residential community, with beautiful views of the mountains. Watch the OB areas, stay in the middle or else. San traps need maintenance. Fairways and greens (fast) in good shape. Want to go back in the spring or summer.
LakeRidge Golf Course
Played On 01/18/2015LakeRidge GC Reno January 2015
The undulation provided a ruin left-right challenge. Initially, the pace of play was poor because they overbooked. On the back 9, it cleared up. There are some nice views of the mountain range. The local terrain makes it difficult if you hit OB...bring a few extras. Overall, fun day, nice folks, and good value.

Overall the course experience was good. However, there was a little more than average waiting probable due to over booking.
The Lakes Course at Red Hawk
Played On 05/17/2014Red Hawk Resort Hills Course
I was scheduled to play the Lakes Course, but was bumped to the private Hills Course due to a tournament...lucky me :)
Nice course with challenging terrain. The hills made some of my tee shots roll an additional 20+ yards! Beautiful course, great value.
