Straightforward course. Fairways (dormant) firm with good roll-out. Greens in excellent shape, interesting contours.

Greens were just aerated and top-dressed, with the usual effect on putting, but we knew this going in. The rest of the course is in excellent condition.

And as usual, the holes that look easy aren't, and the holes that look impossible aren't either, (but close sometimes) . :-)

The only flaws at the course are due to Covid restrictions and reduced staffing. The personal attention, beverages and snacks, and bag handling have all been restricted. I phoned to clear up a tee time problem and was on hold for 32 minutes.
The course is in great condition though, and surprisingly sparse participation resulted in great pace of play. As always here, the round was a pleasure.

Playacar or Hard Rock, this course is challenging and enjoyable. The fairways are narrow, and the greens not overly large, with lots of bunker protection. Not crowded so good pace of play.

Lots of wildlife including birds, iguanas, agoutis, coatimundis, and even a few deer.

Free shuttle to/from local resorts and all inclusive food and drink are really nice touches that make the course a good value. We'll be back!

The course is pretty straightforward, and though there seems to be a lot of water, there is enough room that only really wild shots get wet.

The greens were fast and in great condition, the fairways were fine but the tee boxes needed work, which is to say management has its priorities right.

This course is really well designed, scenic and feels secluded even though it's in the middle of the Playacar resort area. The mounds along the fairways, (a Von Hagge favorite ploy) make accuracy off the tee a must. Thankfully the local rule is to play all jungle areas as lateral hazard.

Staff is very friendly and the all-inclusive beverage cart and 19th hole are a nice touch. Just a pleasant place to play.

I played this course when it first opened, and a few times since, and it has been in better condition each year. Fairways have grown in, the greens have truer roll, and the bunkers are still the biggest challenge. Staff is consistently friendly and helpful. Nice place for a relaxed round.

The whole experience is excellent. Course design, conditioning and staff are great. Regular greens fees are way steep, but a Golf Now hot deal makes it a decent value. I try to play here at least once whenever I'm down this way.

This is one of my favorite courses anywhere. It is not overly difficult, but has many "visual distractions". It always seems to be in great condition, and it has a laid back atmosphere that makes it an enjoyable experience (no matter how badly I'm putting!)

The course recently changed hands and seemed rather disorganized. Staff was friendly and the course itself was in good condition. If they can keep the green fees below typical "Mexico-astronomical" it will continue to be a pleasure to play and a good value.

Hard to say enough good things about this course. Great variety and excellent maintenance on challenging hilly terrain. Greens are just about perfect. Staff was very friendly, helpful and obviously proud of their course, for good reason.

The course stays pretty much on top of the hills (great views!), with very wide fairways. There are several blind tee shots and some gotcha side hills that can dump you into the foot high bunch grass rough. It reminded me of Sevillano Links in northern California, another John Daly layout.

A challenging, fair design with great variety. Maintenance was outstanding and greens were near perfect. Large homes are set well back from the course so there is never a sense of being crowded. A real pleasure to play.

The course has significant elevation change, makes club selection tricky. Probably the time of year, but it needed some maintenance in places, and the greens were still sporting aeration holes that made delicate putts pretty random.

I rated the course value as average because while it was a bit pricey for me, it reflects the superb conditioning and great service. The course has some great risk/reward teasers, some real knee-knocker par threes, and some very subtle sloping on many greens, but everything is right in front of you with no tricked up features or hidden hazards. Sorry I only got to play it once this trip.

My only criticism is for the Mauka (front nine) bunkers. Some of them were hard pan and pretty much unplayable. (We managed to stay out of the bad ones the second round we played!!)

Greens, fairways and tee boxes were in fine shape, and the ocean side holes on the Moana nine are jaw-droppers. Staff was friendly and quite helpful.

This is a challenging and enjoyable course, and they have put a limited budget in the right place: the greens, which are firm, fast and in excellent condition. The rest of the course needs a bit of TLC especially the driving range, which is currently without turf.

The course is in excellent shape, challenging, but wide fairways make it very open, and the new greens are in immaculate condition. Staff, from pro shop to starter to cart girl, were very friendly and helpful, and not stuffy or pushy in any way. Pace of play was fine (just over three and one-half hours). We'll be back.
