Arrowhead Golf Club

You came here to hear about the course, so let's start there. This is a breathtaking track with incredible rock formations and elevation changes. Each hole deserves a picture or two. The greens are incredibly challenging. Not a flat spot on them, so even though they are slow, putts can easily slide away from you. If the greens were any faster, they would be unplayable- especially with the wind.
The pro shop staff and bag people/starters however got the day started on the wrong foot. When one of our group members had an emergency, they said they had to pair us up with the group in front of us. This only made pace slightly better for the group behind us- for a hole or two. They will not give you cart keys until the minute of your tee time, which by then you should have already sized up your opening tee shot and pegged it up.
We were paired with a couple 100+ shooters, which really made the round miserable. I am all for everyone getting out to play, but you need to take skill into account when pairing people up.
By the 6th hole, we were already 30 minutes behind and the staff refused to do anything about it. Didn't even get to finish our round with the pace of play.
If you have the cash and time to burn, I would recommend playing this course, but bring your entire foursome- otherwise there are better deals in the area.

I love this course. Nice layout with fantastic fairways and a fair amount of heather. The greens could be faster, but I imagine they are already too difficult for the majority of players.
There are a number of different tee boxes to make the course enjoyable for anyone. If you have time, I recommend making a day out of it. The practice facility is nice and grabbing lunch or dinner afterwards will be worth it as well!

The course has a nice layout with surprisingly fast greens. You can easily go low on this course with its short length. Fairways and rough are decently maintained, however the bunkers aren't anything I recommend hitting out of.
They do not enforce pace of play. Ran into a foursome holding up the entire front 9 behind them. Claimed they had too many people want to play through and that we could wait or skip the hole, but they refused to let us play through. I guess thats what you get for playing a muni.

This course is ideal for beginners. Rolling hills and sharp dog legs will challenge even the most skilled golfers. Took my wife and friends out here and had a blast playing 12+ holes at super twilight for $19. If the pace was better, we could have got in all 18.
Fairways may not be pristine, but they aren't patchy as expected. Greens have a lot of slope, so you can still get a quick putt even if they aren't shaved.
Overall, not the greatest course and definitely not bucket list golf, but it was pretty fun to slap it around here.
Also, there was a ton of wild life, if thats something you like in your round. Deer and turkeys everywhere!

I don't know how they do it, but they always keep this course in great shape, even with a lot of play. Green, lush fairways and superb greens.
I play out here every year for my church scramble and they really take care of you.
The course isn't too long, but you have to be accurate if you are playing the back tees. If you can work the ball different directions, that would definitely help!
You really can't go wrong playing here! I know they have a $20 senior deal during the week, and that price cannot be beat!

Wow was I impressed by this golf course. Their website doesn't have a ton of information about the course and even fewer photos. You get an up north course with fast, hilly greens and great views. If you look closely, you can see Lake Michigan from #10 tee.
The course was in amazing shape. Well manicured tee to green!!! Lush green fairways and greens.
The layout will allow you to get around the course without driver, so if you are hitting it wayward, hit 2-iron. You will still have a short iron or wedge into the green.
I would say the course is great for beginners and advanced players. Beginners won't be overwhelmed with length and advanced players will be challenged with wedge shots into slope-y greens :) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This course is one you will want to play over and over again. Such a beautiful layout and well maintained piece of property. Large undulating greens await your approach shots, which may be from further out than you had hoped :)
This course is long, especially when the wind picks up, but tee it forward and you will have yourself one great day!
The only downside is the bunkers. They are all placed wonderfully and look pretty, but the sand is coarse and there are plenty of rocks in there to ruin a club or two.
Warren Golf Course At Notre Dame

This course has really gone down hill over the past few years. It has great potential, but things need to change. Maintenance has hit an all time low- bunkers go unraked (if you aren't in someones footprint, you are truly lucky), greens go days without being mowed or rolled (they are slow and bumpy), fairways and tee boxes are not mowed nearly as often as they need to be, and no one fixes pitch marks. This course does like to water- so its always green..the problem is that they water constantly. They will water fairways and greens during your round so that every green has a different speed. They also make sure that your ball picks up as much mud as possible. You will not get roll out here if you are a mid to high ball flight player.
The staff is terrible- the worst part of this course. Incredibly rude and will talk behind your back, it doesn't matter if you are a first timer to the course or a seasoned member. Not a welcoming experience. Also, do not get lessons here. The pros will charge a pretty penny, but spend half their time talking to other people or be on their phone while they should be helping you.
Finally, the food service is sub-par. Thats the reason the carts advertise restaurants on campus for after your round.
Do yourself a favor and play Blackthorn if you want to play a nice course in the area.

This course is good for beginners and typically has nice greens. The pace of play is slow and since the holes go back and forth you always have a golf ball flying at you. Come out early or late and you will enjoy your round.
Driving range is terrible, but there is a sizable putting and chipping green.

This has always been one of my favorite courses in the Flint area. I was a member here for quite some time until school and work took me away from the area. The layout is great, you can play safe or aggressive and still score. I would say it's a decent course for beginners with multiple sets of tees.
The only downside is that they stopped aerating the greens a few years ago making them hard as cement. If you land an approach shot on the green, it will bounce 20-30' in the air and fly off the back of the green. Virtually no chance at holding an approach shot.
The course is pretty and its fun to play so get out there and enjoy a round. Pay no attention to whoever is in the proshop, as they are never the cheeriest people in the world.
