Mather Golf Course
Played On 03/18/2023Woodcreek Golf Club
Played On 11/05/2022Odd course
This wasn’t the first time I played Woodcreek, and it certainly wasn’t my first choice. We decided to play here as it was the only course that had a tee time that worked for us.
I remembered there were a few strange holes, but forgotten just how bad they were - especially the oddly-constructed par 5, 5th. Add to that the course condition with very patchy fairways and poorly maintained bunkers. At least the greens rolled fairly well, given they have been punched a couple of weeks ago.
Unless there are no other alternatives, I doubt I’ll be playing here again.

Played On 06/11/2021Fine once we got a cart
We arrived 25 mins before our 12.54 tee time to be told there would be a slight delay as they waited for cats to come in. So we waited. And waited. At no point did the staff come and explain to us what was going on, nor did they offer any discount or even a courtesy drink while we waited.
When we finally got going, an hour behind schedule, the course was in pretty good condition. The layout is always challenging, the fairways were dry and fast and the greens smooth, but a little slower than you might expect. All in all, we managed to have fun, but the management team should have handled it much better.
Timber Creek Golf Course - Sierra Pines
Played On 12/06/2020Great 9-hole course
This is an ideal course if you're just looking to play 9 holes. It's in excellent condition for the time of year and the greens run smooth and are pretty quick! Definitely worth checking out.
Paradise Valley Golf Course
Played On 09/19/2020Nice course - shame about the slow play
We had a fun round of golf at Paradise Valley, but it was possibly the slowest round I have ever experienced. 5 hours and 17 minutes is waaaay too long - especially as we did see marshals out on the course from time to time. Well, on the front 9, at least.
We had hoped to eat out on the patio, but the slowness of the round meant that we missed the 7pm cut-off, which was frustrating.
The course itself was in decent condition and the greens were relatively fast. The bunkers were obviously unraked, but there was enough sand in those I visited to make proper bunker shots an option. Definitely worth a play if you can get round it a bit more quickly.
Woodcreek Golf Club
Played On 05/21/2020Decent layout, spoiled by a couple of holes
I generally enjoyed this course, and played relatively well (so it isn’t sour grapes) but am unlikely to go back - partly because I often play with my wife, and a couple of the holes are just about unplayable for her as the forced carries are too great. Both the 13th and 14th have large expanses of grassland about 100 yards across.
In addition, the Par-5 5th doesn’t quite seem to know what it wants to be. I’ve played it twice and still find the layout confusing. It isn’t clear where to play your second shot, and it feels like there’s just too much going on.
But the greens rolled nicely and the staff were friendly.
William Land Park Municipal Golf Course
Played On 11/09/2019A fun 9 holes
I've played this course several times, but this was the first time recently I got to play it at the weekend - it's usually my favourite mid-week after work spot!
A friend and I decided to tee off mid-afternoon to ensure we finished well before sunset, and we were lucky enough to a) just play as a two-ball and b) get let through by a slower pair ahead of us meaning we got round in just under 1 and 3/4 hrs.
I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the course - especially after another long dry summer and fall. The greens rolled well and much quicker than I am used to on this course - it looked to us as though they are being kept in better condition these days.
The course itself is quote short, but some of the holes - particularly the locally-renowned, par 3 third (aka the tree hole) and the tricky 4th, which always catches me out.
Definitely worth a visit if you're a local or just visiting - especially if you don't have the time or energy for a full 18 holes!
Eagle Vines Golf Club
Played On 05/12/2019Good, but could be great
Had a very enjoyable round today in perfect, if slightly breezy, conditions.
We got round in a little over 4 and 3/4 hours, which isn’t bad for a course like this on a busy weekend (Mother’s Day).
The greens were a little patchy in colour having been aerated a few weeks ago, but they ran very true. My only real concern about the course was the condition of the bunkers. It seems odd to put so much effort into a course, only to have the bunkers full of weeds. The sand wasn’t the best either, but pulling up a few weeds would have made a big difference.
Other than that, my biggest gripe was the same as the last time we played - I.e. the lack of toilet facilities out on the course. There is a ports-potty, but it’s not something anyone, but especially the ladies in our group, want to use - especially in the summer.
Overall, though, a fun day out.
Valley Hi Country Club
Played On 09/11/2016Nice course, but need to know a member
Some friends recently joined this club and when they invited us to play, we jumped at the chance. One look at the tee boxes and you can see the advantage of joining a club - they are maintained to a much higher standard than the nearby public courses and the greens also run fast and true.
I found the course to be challenging, but fair. Wayward shots will definitely cost you shots - especially if, like me, you find the water down the home stretch. There is enough variety among the holes to keep you interested, but the guest rate at the weekend was a little on the high side (once cart was included).
Coyote Creek Golf Club - The Tournament Course
Played On 05/14/2016Fun, but tough, course
Beautiful course to look at, but really makes you think your way round. Most holes have some kind of forced carry with ditches and streams, plus the feature lake for the last two holes. The rough was very thick, which increased the importance of finding the fairway.
Played from the white tees which, with the wind, meant a number of longer irons or woods into the greens, making the course even harder. Greens were in great condition and pretty quick. Not great for a high handicapper, though.
Hilton Head National Golf Club
Played On 04/22/2016Less celebrated but still fun
I hadn't heard of this course before travelling out to Hilton Head and it wasn't originally in our plans. Then, when we realised we could squeeze in another round at short notice, this course offered the best value- although at about $100 it still wasn't cheap.
We're glad you found us! Thanks for leaving the review. Please come back and play again soon!
Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort
Played On 04/21/2016Beautiful Course
The course was in excellent condition from tee to green. Enjoyed the experience of having a fore-caddie to give us tips on how to play each hole as well as much-needed assistance locating our balls after errant tee shots.
If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend playing this course, but a bit pricey to play it regularly...
Heron Point at Sea Pines Resort
Played On 04/19/2016Great course apart fromt the greens
Really enjoyed playing this course, although the greens could have been in better condition. For the most part they ran true, but many of the greens had sections of new turf that did not appear to be meshing very well with the existing green.
Not a course for you if you don't like water!
Thank you for visiting us at Eagle Vines Golf Club! We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon!
