Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/18/2022Course should be discounted until the greens and fairways have recovered
The course is still recovering from the Feb 2021 freeze that hit all our courses hard. I can't understand charging full price for a course that's yet to fully recover from the damaged caused by the hard freeze.
The greens have some small unknown grass/weed growing along side the Bermuda which makes putting a challenge. Fairways are about the same and they've got some sod out in areas they are trying to recover. These areas should be roped off and relief given when a ball lands there. Why let people play out of an area you're trying to repair?

Played On 05/09/2021Recovering from snow storm.
Had a a fair amount of snow storm damage to fairways and tee boxes. We played whites and on some holes we were right behind the senior or ladies tees. Otherwise course plays like it always does. A good test that makes you work hard for every stroke.
Thank you for your review, skeedawg40. We will pass along your positive experience to our team at The Courses at Watters Creek - Traditions Course. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Twin Creeks Golf Course
Played On 09/04/2017So slow we left after 9
Absolutely the slowest 9 holes I've ever played. At 3 hours to complete, I have to say it was the first time I was ever relieved to be done. Should have known something was up when there were no carts ready But the parking lot wasn't anywhere close to full. No starter or Marshall. Saw the cart girl once in 3 hours. Oh yeah did I mention 3 hours to play 9? Despite the course itself being in good condition this is the worst place in DFW to play. So much wasted potential.

Played On 05/26/2017Good, tee boxes need attention
I love this course, it's always a challenge and you really need a plan for each hole. Shot selection off the tee is really key here, and a lot of holes the driver will get you in trouble. Because of this the tee boxes need attention immediately. They are nice and green, but need to be leveled on just about every hole. Several times the best location to tee off left you with an up slope/down slope, or something else uneven for your stance.
Otherwise really a fun round and the greens rolled great 2 weeks into aerification.
Lakes at Firewheel Golf Park
Played On 04/23/2017greens painfully slow
I like this course a lot but they have got to get the greens rolling with some speed, they are horribly slow. The course otherwise looks great, and appears undamaged form the recent storms.

Had a great time here. Fairways and greens were in terrific shape. Pace of play was excellent.

Played On 09/25/2016Best east Texas course
A gem in the heart of east Texas. With rain shutting everything down in DFW on Sunday I decided to head east. It was well worth the trip. This is a challenging layout cut right into the piney woods that makes great use of the terrain and landscape. Beats the heck out of the dfw black clay. Since chance of rain scared everyone away I had the course all to myself so pace was excellent. Greens were firm and fast. Fairways the same. I found a great place to go when I head black home for a visit.

Played On 09/24/2016September rains couldn't come soon enough
The course was pretty dry as most are but all fairways and greens are in ok shape. The tee boxes are like bricks so hopefully the rain helps. This course has one of the best layouts in the area and you really need to bring your best game. Played my best round here for an 86 and could have been better with a few shots here and there.
Pace of play was worst I've seen here. A group a few ahead of us slowed everyone down and didn't see a Marshall all day which is unusual. Took us almost 5 hours to finish.
Hi skeedawg40,
Thank you for your four star review! We really appreciate your feedback and are happy to know you enjoy our course layout. We would like to congratulate you on your score of 86! However, we do apologize for the slow pace of play and will work to improve the flow of play. We hope to see you back on the course soon!
Best,

Bridges - The Masters at Firewheel Golf of Garland
Played On 09/11/2016It was...ok
It's a challenging course and pretty popular. Greens were okay. Lots of pitch marks left unrepaired. Rough here is tougher than most and you will have a hard time finding your ball at times. It's thick and I had to club up to have a chance to get close to the green. Lots of water and trees that demand you keep it in the fairway. Pace was okay. Not the worst I've seen and marshalls were out helping. A single did pass our group which I found out they would let that happen on a busy day.
No cart service which makes no sense. Somebody lost out on a lot of tips Sunday. Water was available about every 3 holes which was great.
I'd play here again if I can get another GolfNow deal but glad I didn't pay full price given the conditions of the greens and lack of on course service.
Coyote Ridge Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2016Challenging course with nice greens
Shot my best round of 88 from blues here yesterday. Course is in really good shape. A couple greens distressed from the heat but otherwise great. Greens aren't huge here and are a challenge to hit. They do roll true and a you have to be on the right tier to avoid some nasty breaks. I think it's one of the best public courses in the area.
Thank you for your review! We are glad that you enjoyed your round with us and that is was your best round yet. We're honored that you consider us one of the best public courses in the area and we hope to see you back for your next round soon!
Pecan Hollow Golf Course
Played On 08/20/2016Favorite track in the area
I started playing here because it was close to work and I could get out early for twilight golf. It's the best muni in DFW for the money. The greens here are in terrific shape (FYI aerating this week) and roll great. You don't have to be perfect with drives, but a hook or slice will lose a lot of balls. The natural overgrown rough will take them and never give them back. I really like the layout change for this year and it helps speed up the round as others have mentioned.
Also, they have the best practice facility in the are IMHO. The driving range hitting areas are in great shape. The short course is fun and priced right. Chipping and putting areas play like the course. Highly recommended for anyone.

Played On 08/20/2016Soggy Saturday
Played here on a hot deal despite the rain. It was pretty soggy and cart path only, but I had the whole back 9 to myself. I could only play the back 9 because of a member event on the front, so played it twice.
Staff is great here, course is in good condition, and the rain will only help. Greens have recovered from aeration a week ago and rolled true. Definitely coming back here when I can play the whole course.
Hi "skeedawg40" Thank you so much for the great review. We are so glad that you enjoyed the course despite the rain. We hope to see you back out on the course in the near future so you can see the entire 18 holes. Thanks MGT
Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
Played On 07/31/2016good course, hot weather
Course is in good shape for all the weather we've had. The greens were unbelievably soft so if you can't your ball there it will stick. Fairways also in good shape. Cart girl made several passes by our group which is always appreciated. It's a fun and challenging track.
There are several narrow approaches to the greens on the par 4s so be careful...3 woods or solid irons shots will give you a better second shot.
The Senator Course at Shula's Golf Club
Played On 10/11/2015it was ok
I enjoyed my round in August more, but that was on a Saturday AM. My tee time on Sunday was at 3pm and the course was in a little worse shape
F&B - cart girl done at 3, but was able to catch her in the grill to grab some drinks for the round.
Greens - front 9 needed to be mowed, looked like a day or 2 worth of growth,. Not so bad but the back 9 had been maintained better and the greens rolled faster. Not fun to find out on the first couple of holes. Soft so they held the ball well, but why can't my fellow golfers repair thier ball marks...
Fairwarys - were in the same shape as last time i played.
Pace - could have played faster but we ended up finishing in 3.5 hours.
Dear skeedawg40,
Thank you for your review of Shula's Golf Club. We have had to maintain higher than normal green heights due to the amount of rain we have received this month. The weather forecast has improved and our superintendent has begun lowering the heights. We hope to see you in the near future.
Sincerely,

Played On 08/29/2015Fun track.
I got paired up with a couple of members and that made for a great experience. It's a fun course with plenty of challenges. It's closed to non-members starting in October through their golf season so be mindful when making plans to play here. Also there's no food and beverage service other than vending machines.
I would give it a 5 for conditions but the greens had been recently aerated. Price was adjusted for that factor which was nice.
Hi, thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club!
