Raven Golf Club - Phoenix
Played On 12/26/2016Great Conditions. Poor Amenities
Played this course on 12/26. The course itself was in excellent condition; well-manicured fairways and greens. The rough was a little long, but that is to be expected with the winter rye. Pace of play was excellent as well; we finished our round in about 4 hours and 20 minutes.
The amenities are where this course is lacking. There was no GPS offered on the cart, very sparse yardage markers on the sprinklers, no course layout or yardage book provided and the starter told us the wrong pin position for the day which affected a couple of the early holes. They do offer a GPS phone app and USB chargers in the cart, but no cable to utilize the chargers. So unless you pack a charging cable in your golf bag, you will draining your phone battery all day. Very inconvenient in my opinion. We only saw the beverage cart three times: on holes 3, 6 and 16. They had water stations every 3-4 holes, but for some reason none of them had water jugs in them. So we went more than half the round without any drinks or water. Thankfully this was not the dead of summer, which would have resulted in some serious health risks.
Overall I give this course a 3.5 star rating. The course itself is excellent, one of the best in the Phoenix area. The facilities are top notch. The amenities leave much to be desired and did not feel like an $85 value.
