Disappointed in the conditions of greens and fairways

Las Sendas is a tough, excellent layout. It will test every part of your game. And the views are spectacular.
But course conditions left a lot to be desired on what should be a top-rated course. The greens were grainy and almost unputtable. It looked like the winter grass had died off and the summer grass had not grown in yet? Part grass and part dirt. And the fairways had a lot of brown areas with thin grass cover in those areas. Just disappointing conditions for a course I have played many times in the past and always thought it was in great condition. Not what I expected. If you have never played Las Sendas it is worth playing. If you are a local there are many other courses in the valley in much better condition.

Hard to rate a golf course without a driving range higher than 3 stars

No driving range, quite a few blind shots and slow play.
The driving ranges consisted of 4 mats hitting into a net. The putting green by the parking lot looked nice, but the putting green next to the first hole was just dirt. A few of the greens on the course had issues with grass coverage and dead spots. The fairway in many places was mowed just like the rough, which was way to long for this type of course. And you shouldn't have to play out of long grass in the middle of the fairway. I had avoided this course for the 10 years I have lived in AZ based on other reviews but decided to give it a try based on price. Really doubt I will go back.
The helpers on the course were exceptionally nice and the ranger was actually doing his job. So give them credit.

Average course, below average conditions

The views are excellent. The course conditions, not so much. Greens were slow and bumpy. All players in my foursome said the same thing. Even if you did read the green correctly the ball bounced on the way to the cup and went all over the place. Tee boxes were not level and completely full of divot marks. Fairways had a lot of thin spots in them, almost like the overseed didn't take or they shorted the amount of seed in places. Overall a quirky course where the driver stays in the bag on most holes. But a nice visual course and the day was perfect..

Nice course but not sure what everyone raves about

I was really looking forward to playing this course. I had read many of the great reviews and had also played the "sister" Victory course a few years ago. The course was good condition after overseeding and I played the first day that carts were allowed back on the course.
What I liked: Fairways were spacious and in good condition - Pace of play was excellent (4 hours for this time of year is great) - Check in people were very friendly - Green complexes were large.
What I didn't think was great - The putting surfaces were poor. Very fast downhill and very slow uphill. Almost no grass on the surface. For this price and quality of course I would expect much better greens. Even after overseeding. Almost like they cut them too short before the grass had time to grow in. If the greens do not improve a lot, I would not pay this price to play here again. - Roughs either were not overseeded or were not watered enough and were brown. Even lower quality courses in the valley mostly overseed their roughs.
The course raves about it being one of the top 50 you can play in the US. I am not sure it is in the top 25 in the greater Phoenix area. There are a lot of area courses I would rather play.
I don't want to give the impression that the course is not good, only that I have a lot of experience playing many courses in the Phoenix area and this one did not jump out at me as a must play.

Nice condition. Flat somewhat boring and forgettable. I hate to give a somewhat negative review for a course I such great shape.

A week after playing the only things I remember was I hit a ball in the water on #2 or 3. Course is flat. Plays long. A lot of much better courses in the valley.

Prepaid on Golfnow but golf club would not honor tee time

I prepaid $60 for a tee time at this course but when I showed up the course said they had no record of prepayment and wanted $95 to play. Even after speaking with Golfnow they would not honor the time. Golfnow refunded my payment but the course is not worth $95 so I left. Disappointed with both Golfnow and with golf course.

Great condition but not very interesting layout

I hadn't played this course in a few years but had friends in town that wanted to play. Course is in great condition. We were held up on a few holes but got done in 4 hours which is pretty standard for the phoenix area this time of year. The only downside to this course is that it is just boring. Flat terrain, back and forth holes, nothing to set one hole apart from the next or previous hole. I might remember 1 hole on the entire course. I guess when you have very flat terrain and no water there is not much you can design. If you get a reasonable price, go play. Like I said, course is in great condition, greens rolled well and fairways were lush. It just take something more memorable to make we want to go back. There are a lot of great courses with very memorable holes in the greater Phoenix area.
