Wolf at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 04/19/2016Great Desert Golf
I love playing the Paiute courses. I have now played all three courses and all have been fantastic. The staff is very helpful. The clubhouse and restaurant are very nice and the pro shop is well stocked. I played as a single paired with 3 other singles. Pace of play was 4 1/2 hours not that bad. Will play here again.
Unpleasant Surprise
Do not get you hopes up when you are standing at the club house looking out over the Palms course with its green fairways and lush greens. The Lakes course is the poor stepchild to the Palms. The only areas that has been overseeded are the tees. The fairways are brown and hard. The greens are green because they are painted green, and since the greens look and feel so bad no one must feel they have to fix ball marks. The traps are mostly mud holes with weeds growing in many of them. Payed less to play championship course two days earlier. Will not play the Lakes again. Hale Irwin would be ashamed to have his name attached to this course. We played this course because we did not have time to play a full 18 hole course this day.
Falcon Golf Club
Played On 01/13/2015Nice afternoon of golf.
4 of us played Falcon at 1 pm with a Golfnow rate of $30. Good value for the money. This was our first time playing here. My daughter was visiting and had to use rental clubs. Their inventory was very sparse but they did not charge us for them so cant complain. THe fairways were in good condition and the greens were very good. If you are not used to having jets taking off and landing near you you may not want to play this course. But having the Air Force Base right next door was kind of exciting. We will play this course again.
Chardonnay Golf Club

My wife and I live in our RV full time so I like to play different types of courses as we travel around and Chardonnay fit that criteria. You play right through the grape vines. There is a nice combination of level and hilly holes. Some higher holes have great views of the Napa Valley. The greens were challenging and in very good condition. My wife was allowed to drive the cart for me at no charge and this is a big plus.
Apple Mountain Golf Resort
Played On 05/29/2014Hills and Valleys
There are no level holes on this course so you have to be ready for all types of lies, both on the fairways and greens. Be ready to hit less or more club than usual to manage the hills and valleys. They give you a cheat sheet when you start that really helps someone who is playing the course for the first time. Read it and do as it says. Long hitters will not need their driver on many holes. The marshal was out and about trying to get groups to speed it up but four and a half hours for this course is about right considering the challenging conditions. Got a great deal from Golfnow to play this course. .
Wolf Run Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2014Great test of golf for the average golfer.
I checked in and was given a cart key and told I could start anytime I wanted because the tee box was wide open. There are no signs as to where the first tee was so I had to guess which direction to go. The course could use more direction signs since the cart paths crisscross many times. I played the first 3 holes by myself and then caught up with a twosome who asked me to join them since they were waiting for a foursome in front of them. Loved the wide fairways which were in good shape and the greens were also in very good condition. Fortunately the traps were in good. shape too. Great views of the snow capped mountains. Enough hazards to make it a fun course to play but not too hard. There are hundreds of woodchucks or marmots on this course.
Mountain Falls Golf Course
Played On 05/15/2014Desert Gem
This is an outstanding course. Large fairways and 5 sets of tees for every level of skill. The GPS was very helpful since this was the first time playing here. The pace of play seemed slow at 4 1/2 hours, but the GPS said we were only 5 minutes behind the accepted rate of play. A very nice experence.
Sun Mountain at Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort
Played On 04/21/2014Great Desert Course
I was paired with two locals and we teed off at 7:36 AM and played 18 in just over 3 hours. The course is in fantastic shape. They had aerated two weeks before so the greens were a little bumpy but not nearly as bad most courses would be two weeks after aeration. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I am going to try to get in another round at one of their other course before we leave this area.
Championship at Moon Valley Country Club
Played On 03/18/2014Excellent greens
This is not a desert course as I was expecting after playing two other courses nearby. Nice level rolling course with the best greens I have played yet during my visit.
