Indian Mounds Golf Course
Played On 07/01/2017Great little executive course
I've played Indian Mounds numerous times over the years. It's an executive course with at least 6 holes requiring driving with a driver or FW wood. The course is usually in decent shape as are the greens. Note though, this course sits in the old Mississippi flood plain area. It's relatively flat and after heavy rains will have spots on the course that become swampy or water logged. It's a great warm up course and the cost of $15 which includes a cart is a bargain.
Quail Creek Golf Course
Played On 08/29/2016This was once a great course
Quail creek was at one time a top notch golf course here in St Louis. The layout is still interesting and a challenge. Unfortunately, the overall condition of the course is pretty bad. I didn't find issues with the tee boxes or the fairways but the greens and bunkers are atrocious. The greens range from barely fair to bad. Way too many large blotches of dead grass and dead areas. It's tough to get a ball to run even close to true. They need to gut them and start from scratch.
The bunkers aren't much more than silt laden river sand that gets hard when it dries out. Your ball never nestles into the sand but sits up on top. Then it becomes a game of chance with your bunker shot. The club either manages to dig in and take some sand or it bounces off and you skull the ball across the green. The bunkers need to be gutted as well and redone.
Lots of potential here. A great Hale Irwin design that keeps you interested. One can only hope they can turn this one around.
Nature Walk Golf Club
Played On 09/17/2015Great executive course
Played this course twice last week when we were in the pcb area on vacation.
Greens and fairways on par 4's were in good shape. Greens fairly speedy. Overall course conditions were good other than some tee boxes that needed attention. Some of the bunkers needed better care by the course workers. Some had pretty matted down sand that could'very used some grooming. Natures walk a good name for this course as the path takes you through the woods several times. I'll play this course again in the future.
Heritage of Hawk Ridge
Played On 10/19/2014Great Par 3 course
Tee boxes and greens were in excellent condition. Even though the longest hole on this course is 215 yds from the tips, the pin placements on some of the greens made it challenging. One of the better par 3 courses I've played.
Note: They do have a dress code here. No denim or T shirts.
Fairfield Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2014Only an OK experience
Much like many of the other reviews, I experienced much the same though some issues made less difference for me.
1. Green size. Yep, smallish greens. If they built a golf course in Munchkinland, the green on #9 would be the model.
2. Lack of direction on the course. If they didn't have a map on the back of the scorecard I'd have had a tough time finding the #4 tee from the #3 green. It was sometimes difficult to tell which way to go to get to the next hole. Blind tee shots, uphill into a dogleg made it necessary to drive up the hill before teeing off just to see which way the hole went.
3. #14 is ridiculous. You'll have to see it.
4. Fairway and greens were in good condition.
5. Front nine cart paths paved. Back nine, gravel and somewhat rough.
6. No restroom I could find on the front nine. Only 1 on the back.
All in all I wouldn't play this course for over $20. Cheaper would be better. It's short, less than 6k yards from the tips. Staff was good just not a course I'd think about going back to soon.
Thanks for playing! We appreciate your feedback and will be taking your comments into consideration moving forward. Please come back and play again soon!
