Riviera Maya Golf Club - Championship Course
Played On 03/28/2019Jungle Love
Practiced and played 4 rounds during our holiday. As a guest staying in the residences on the Bahía Principe property the rate was $80 after 1pm. Good value for a high quality course and overall experience. Plenty of challenge here, with thick jungle and crystal clear lakes and cenotes framing several shots. Prevailing winds kept things cool but added length to a stretch of already long par fours on the back 9. Lots to like about the area and the resort. Add golf at Riviera Maya and you have a truly exceptional holiday experience.
Heritage Oaks Golf Club - Classic 18
Played On 07/17/2018Sporty Sportsman’s
Enjoyable early morning round at Sportsman’s CC. As first time visitors to Chicago area, we were looking forward to experiencing a mature parkland course and Sportman’s didn’t disappoint. Nice layout. Green complexes were good, however many unrepaired ball marks ... strange for an early morning round. That said, I’d be pleased to play again.
Strawberry Farms Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2017Strawberry Farms Forever
Definitely worth playing Strawberry Farms! After a few days at Disney it was a welcome break from the crowds. Only a 30 minute drive from the resort area to one of the top public access courses in Orange County. Smart layout that winds through the valley. Excellent conditions save for a few pockmarked greens. Great value on GolfNow, too. I'll be back!
Black Gold Golf Club
Played On 07/20/2017Pure Gold
Black Gold was highly recommended as one of the top public access courses in the area. While visiting the Disney Resort, I managed to squeeze in a couple rounds and Black Gold was my favorite. Course is set in the hills of Yotba Linda, about 30 minutes from the theme parks. Lots of elevation change, great views, and challenge. Good practice area.
Verde River Golf & Social Club
Played On 03/24/2015North Scottsdale Favorite
We have been visiting this area for a few years now, and I've seen Tegavah's popularity grow. This is a very good golf course in an area with many excellent (high-priced) and much heralded courses. Visit Tegavah if you love golf and you won't be disappointed. The clubhouse facility is modest, the practice area is good, and the golf course is a well maintained, interesting layout, with exceptional views of the Tonto Verde Mountains.
Legend at Arrowhead, The
Played On 03/21/2015Potential
There is a lot to like about The Legend at Arrowhead. The course itself is an interesting mix of holes that winds through a nice NW Phoenix neighbourhood. While homes line the sides of all of the holes, landing areas are quite generous with most of the challenge around the greens. The Legend offers reasonable green fees. We played on a busy Saturday and found that the pace of play bogged down on the back nine. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable round and a nice alternative to the high priced rounds in the east valley.
The Legacy Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2015Grand Resort
Very enjoyable experience at The Legacy. Wide, lush fairways and smooth greens, throw in some great views of the South Mountains, a grand clubhouse and resort facility. It all adds up to a superb golf experience. There is an expansive practice area.
Mesquite/Ironwood at Kierland Golf Club
Played On 03/21/2014Top Quality
Kierlands is a top quality resort course. Suitable for all levels of play, the course is expertly manicured and the attention to detail is evident. Got a deep discount on Golfnow and an great golf experience at Kierlands.
Peaks at Tonto Verde Golf Club
Played On 03/18/2014Peaks Course at Tonto Verde
Followed a great deal on GolfNow beyond renowned Grayhawk and Troon North, to the north eastern edge of Scottsdale to find Tonto Verde. 36 holes in a private club setting with spectacular views of the mountains of the nearby Tonto National Forest. The long drive is worth it, as what waits is a relaxed and fun round on an incredibly well-conditioned, sporty golf course with plenty of challenge.
Tee times are not regularly available at this private facility, so take advantage of when they become available. I know I will.
Camelback Golf Club - Ambiente Course
Played On 03/17/2014Classic Camelback
Enjoyable experience at Camelback's - Ambiente Course ... plenty of challenge and spectacular views as this re-modeled layout winds through Paradise Valley. Wildflowers provide spectacular color to surround the lush fairways and firm and fast greens. Excellent practice facilities and classic clubhouse.
Sudden Valley Golf & Country Club
Played On 6/8/2013Fun, mature, course with a variety of holes.
Great to come back to Sudden Valley, a course were I learned to play as a teenager. The opening nine appears benign as it plays through the valley. Gusting winds and firm greens provided much of the challenge during our recent round. A favorite hole is the par 4, number 5, a dogleg that plays out to Lake Whatcom - spectacular views. The second nine winds its way through the homes and the massive coniferous trees that stand on the western slope. Elevation changes and a variety of uphill and sidehill lies are a part of the challenge here.
The variety of holes and the variety of shots required make Sudden Valley a fun course to play.
Palm at McCormick Ranch Golf Club
Played On 3/28/2013Enjoyable layout, extensive facilities
First time visit to McCormick Ranch. Played the Palm Course. A large busy facility on our afternoon visit. Extensive practice areas which we took advantage of and were included in the green fee. We found the opening holes of the Palm unspectacular but the course becomes interesting from the 8th hole on. Number 9 is a great par 4 with an island fairway. The back 9 provides some interesting holes with some tighter par fours and two tempting par fives. Fairways and greens are well maintained but the dormant rough areas take away somewhat from the esthetics. There's a lot to like about McCormick Ranch especially if you are looking for something other than desert golf. This is a classic parkland layout that provided for an enjoyable afternoon.
Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
Played On 3/26/2013Challenging, well-conditioned, desert golf
Very enjoyable experience at Wildfire. The Faldo course is in excellent condition - fast, smooth greens, and well manicured fairways. Landing areas are generally wide with much of the challenge coming from the numerous green-side bunkers that will swallow up errant approach shots. On-cart GPS is very helpful in this regard. Thanks for the great rate on Golfnow.com
The Phoenician Golf Club
Played On 3/25/2013Superb conditioning and great views lead to an enjoyable round
The Phoenician is excellent! Top-notch facility, welcoming service, and a very sporty and playable golf experience. We played the Canyon/Oasis combination. The Canyon, although not long, winds around the base of the Camelback Mountain ... providing spectacular views of the valley. With undulating fairways, and smooth, fast greens, there is plenty of challenge despite the yardage on the card. By comparison the Oasis is flat but no less challenging with water in play on several holes. Again, conditioning stands out on this nine. Great rate on Golfnow. We'd go back in a minute!
