Very playable

Course is very playable. Love the greens. Fairways are a little firm for my liking so growing the grass a little longer would help. not sure if the fairways need more water or a number of good sand aeration’s. Tee to green in good shape I would play this over Riverview mainly because of the Mickey Mouse greens there. Pace of play is not bad.

Mickey Mouse pin placements

First green is in bad condition. Pin placements on the day i played made it a miserable round. Basically the person doing pin placements should read the following

Pin locations must be balanced throughout the course with respect to the front, rear, left, right and center of the green. Too many left and right locations would require golfers to hit many drawn or hooked shots, which could be a disadvantage to golfers who have not mastered these shots. Holes should not be placed in "tricky" parts of the green or on extreme slopes where the ball would gain speed. Course superintendents choose a hole location so that no matter where the golfer is putting from, it's possible for him to hit the ball and have it stop within 2 feet of the hole. Course superintendents typically use a hole placement rotation when setting up the course -- six pin placements in the front third, six in the center and six in back of the green with nine pins on the left and nine on the right side of the greens.”

Pay close attention to the sentence that states you should be able to stop the ball within 2’ of the whole. There were a number of holes where this was not possible.

Lastly the fairways are rock hard and need water and the grass should be grown a little taller to allow for a user friendly lie. Would not be an issue if you were not hitting off of hard pan.

So because of this I will never recommend it play this course again

Worst conditions ever

Not the first time playing this course however this is the worst conditions ever. No maintenance in bunkers, fairways are not good. The rough is in better greener condition. For a resort style course I would use two words to describe. Cow Pasture. If you are going to charge for a premium course then the conditions should be represented of such a fee. If I knew then what I know now I would not have paid more than 20.00 to play this poorly maintained course.

Some of the greens also have weed issues. I could go on and on. Overall I rate this at no more than one star.

Lastely no beverage cart service the day we played. Look we spend 700.00 on a group to play this course from players coming from different states booked in advance. I have played lots of courses in the area for the last 10 years and this place is off my list.

Slow play due to 6 person group

I would have given 5 stars however allowing a Group of 6 to go off on the same hole is totally unacceptable. Never seen a golf course allow this. I seen groups skipping holes or quitting early due to the slow play. Our group finished in 5 hours due to this slow play. That is at least an hour longer than it should have taken.

I don’t care if they were playing best ball. The fact it was cart path only ( not that they followed that policy) made it even that much slower.

Mickey Mouse Greens

Course is in good condition tee to greens. I like the course since the condition is really good. My only negative about this course is the greens. I have played all over the US and these greens are among the worst to putt. The greens are crowned all over the place leaving very little room for a flat putt. Greens should have some different plateau’s however these green offer very little and instead crowned all over the place . So it really leaves these greens unplayable. I have played TPC and Troon and their greens are more playable. So if someone wants to say the greens have character I would say not really. I would best describe the greens as being Mickey Mouse. It turns a really good experience into a negative

Conditions Disappointed

The course has lost the greens, tee boxes are in terrible shape and the fairways are not much better. Condition of the course is not representative of what it is capable of being.

Course is in great condition

Course is in great condition. I traveled 30 miles to play this course since the course in my community is not worth the money they charge for the conditions

The fairways at this course are in great condition and the greens rolled nice. Just do not have one complaint about the course. Worth the drive to play a course in this condition. The layout is also fun to play and not easy what so ever.

My hat goes off to the team that manages the conditions at this course. You have definitely figured out what other courses such as Trilogy at Vistancia have not. Great job and keep up the good work.

POOR CONDITIONS

I would call this my Home Local course since I live minutes from the course. The Bermuda grass has not come in for another year which is rather disappointing. Nearly every fairway has bare areas of exposed dirt. The truth is that you will need to take a drop in order to hit from grass in almost any situation if you hit the ball in the fairway. This is extremely sad for a course that advertises itself to be a 5 star golf facility. This is so far from the truth and the conditions are embarrassing if you ask me.

My recommendation is they should close the course for 3 months like another course in the area did last year so they can over seed the Bermuda. They reality is that the grass is not going to grow in which is what they have said for 2 of the last 3+ years. Look I live minutes from the course and will no longer waste my money here when the course is in this kind of condition.

Look the staff is friendly as always however I feel bad for them to have to make excuses for the conditions. I also feel sorry for the Trilogy members that make this their home course even though I hear some have been playing elsewhere because of the conditions.

So please I beg the operators to close the course and do what is necessary to bring this course back into the kind of conditions that is warranted of the 5 star rating. They do the golfers as dis-service by booking tee times and taking the money of golfers who make a reservation expecting to play a course in good condition.

And please do not say it did not transition well. Seems other courses have figured it out. Thanks

Great Experience

First time playing golf in Palm Springs area. Very nice course that was in great shape given the amount of weather the area had been getting. Played with a member who was great company on a nice sunny day.

Nice Course, Carts not so Good

We played a day after storms rolled through Southern California. Interesting layout however on the day we played it was cart path only which is tough to do on this course. If you landed in the traps you lost your ball to standing water.

We had to change carts 3 times because each time they died on the course. This was unacceptable in my book. I was visiting from Arizona so more then likely I will not come back.

Worst Conditions

I have played this course many times over the years and it just seems to get worse and worse. So here are my major complaints.

1. The cart paths will send you to the chiropractor for starters they are so bad.
2. You will be lucky to land on Grass in the middle of the fairway.
3. The traps are not manicured on a daily basis and have more Water in them then playable surface.
4. Some tee boxes are hit and miss for grass. Shame on the maintenance crew for setting up the boxes in dirt.
5. The greens are mediocre at best... Do not seem to be mowed daily and the equipment they do use leaks oil or hydraulic fluid on the greens at times.
6. Good luck if yo ever see a beverage cart.

My Compliments..

The Staff is always friendly and I really feel sorry for them to have to make excuses for the conditions of the course.

So spend you money somewhere else. I have played this course for years and it just does not seem to getting any better. With the conditions it is in they might as well just build homes on the land since the reinvestment just does not seem to be there.

I know what some of you might suggest... What do you expect for $24.00... Well I expect the course to be well maintained and that is not what you are going to get here. I just do not see myself coming back to play here. This is one of the closest course to where I live and better off going elsewhere.

Hillcrest recently had the main pump go down over 4th of July weekend. This meant very little water got on the course for almost five days, and unfortunately some of the fairways and tee boxes suffered due to the excessive heat. The problem has been fixed and poor areas have been recently fertilized this week to spark growth. Everything should start improving on a daily basis and the greens are still in very good shape for this time of year. We do hope you come back in the future and give Hillcrest another try; we still have one of the most enjoyable and forgiving lay outs in the valley. ~HC

Worst Conditions Ever

I have played this course for a number of years and the conditions continue to get worst year after year. The cart paths will send you to the chiropractor and the fairways will leave you thinking that they don't give a goat pastures care about conditions. If you are lucky your ball will land on grass in th middle of the fairway.
Let's not stop there. The traps were not racked the day I played and they were not ever playable since they had more water in them then playable sand. I am not done yet. The greens where not in good condition either and let's not stop there the tee boxes are also not well kept. Had hit off of dirt in many cases

Let's not forget no beverage service on the course.

This course used to be in better conditions and it seems management does not care enough to maintain it then why not just build houses on it. And please don't tell me you get what you pay for. This course has turned into an disappointment and golfers should look elsewhere to spend your money. It is a Shame Shame Shame that this course is in the condition it is in.
