National City Golf Course
Played On 10/25/2014Fun and good value for the price
Nice layout. A couple of challenging holes. Good for beginners too.
Chula Vista Golf Course
Played On 09/01/2014Getting worse every time
I have played this course many times, and have never seen it in such poor condition. Hitting a tee shot into the fairway should at least ensure that you have a decent shot into the green. Not here! Ground under repair everywhere! Burned out areas of both fairways and greens. Puddles and mud patches scattered around the course from inefficient sprinkler systems. Not my favorite course before; one to avoid in the future.
Carlton Oaks Lodge & Country Club
Played On 06/27/2014Brilliant!
First time playing Carlton Oaks, and I am sure I will return soon. Challenging course, but fair. Pace of play was fantastic for an early morning round. Food was great, and nice selection of beers on tap.
Glen Ivy Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2014Beautiful, challenging, and fair.
Second time playing this course. Lots of traffic made my playing partner late, but they accommodated us. Great course with beautiful scenery, and challenging holes. Slow on the back nine. Lots of fun!
What happened to this once great course?
I used to love this course, but it is in awful condition. On the front nine, only two of the greens were in great condition. All of the others were torn up; the ambassador mentioned "disease." The course had been over-seeded (time of year, I know), so the play was "cart path only." It was fine for me and two of my playing partners (all in our 40s), but the fourth was a 75-year old man, who had difficulty on some holes getting to the ball (center of the fairway) from the cart path. Tee boxes were in poor condition, and tee placements were often grouped close together. Always looking for a deal, our elder-statesman asked the manager about a discount, due to the poor conditions, to which the gentleman replied, "You already got one by booking on GolfNow." Certainly not worth the money we spent. I used to really enjoy this course, but I am going to stay away for a while... a LONG while.
Battlefield Golf Club
Played On 09/29/2013Great fun, excellent value
I love this course. Visiting from San Diego, CA. Loved the historical background of the course. Very impressed with the layout and condition of the course. Beautiful, and lots of fun and challenging holes. I had the first tee time of the day, and finished in about three hours. Best value for the money of all the courses I have ever played.
Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan - Oak Glen
Played On 09/20/2013All-around great experience
Course is in fantastic condition, especially compared to other courses in the area! Challenging, but fair for all skill levels. Pace of play was excellent, even given that they had three tournaments scheduled for that day. Friendly staff.
Salt Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2013New owners have made noticeable improvements.
Course is in much better shape compared to the last time we visited. Pace of play has never been a concern at this course. Restrooms are very rare on this course, which posed a problem for one of our group on this visit. Overall, though, much better than the times we have visited in the past. We'll be back!
Good Afternoon,
First and foremost I would like to apologize for the course conditions during your visit. This past fall EastLake Country Club was in poor shape due to some large scale irrigation system challenges and disease that had catostrophic efffects on the golf course.
I would love for you to see the condition of EastLake CC now. We have invested large amounts of money over the last few months including sod, over 16,000 pounds of seed, and large amounts of water and manpower to get the course back into the condition it used to be in. Please feel free to call me at your convenience to discuss this matter, as I would like to make it right for you and your playing partners.
Sincerely,
David Landers
