Heronscourt

A great golf course with a superb layout and great greens since they were rebuilt last year. Certainly the quickest and truest we have played. The only downside are the patches of strange grass on the fairways which do need dealing with. There are some great holes, nos 5, 8, 9, 13, 15 and 18 in particular. The only unfair hole particularly for higher handicappers is number 11 which is a lengthy par five with a right angle dogleg thirty to forty yards from the green with a group of large trees on the inside of the dogleg and a green side bunker waiting if one is capable of going over the trees but overall a fair test of golf.
Look out for deer, bald eagles and bobcat during your round plus the obligatory alligators and bird life.

This is one of the top three courses in Bradenton / Sarasota. USA open qualifiers are played here. The pro shop is well stocked. I've played here since the course first opened 17 years ago and every time I visit the area and in recent years we've rented on Waterlefe for May & October. Greens are fabulous, chipping out of the Bermuda rough around the greens can be challenging.

We played this course some years ago and I remembered it as a proper course, not one woven amongst real estate. Off the longest tees it is about the same length as my home course in the UK. There are a couple of par five holes over 500 yds, one of 540 yds. The course is suffering from the prolonged drought but despite that the greens are good, in fact better than I remember them from our previous visit, and with some wicked borrows. We were around in under 3.5 hours which is a first in Sarasota / Bradenton for us. The course needs rain but is playing well and is a good and fair test of golf. We'll definitely play it again when we come back in October if not on this visit. By the way I made par on the 540 yd hole, driver, three wood, pitching wedge and two puts

A new course which can only get better when it matures. Fairways are good but will get better with time. The greens compare with the best in the area, true and fast. My only adverse comment is that there are some long drives from green to next tee which adversly affects the pace of play. Staff are great. Long may it rain open to visitors bit I doubt it.

I've played this course many times over 15 years on our regular visits to Florida. We used to rent a house on Rosedale until it was sold. The course is a tough test with some very tight driving lines and plenty of water with mounds and slopes which carry any off line shots to the water or across the cart path into the trees. I understand the need to work on the greens but even allowing for this the condition was poor. Some tee boxes were substandard however the fairways were good. Staff cannot be faulted. I will play Rosedale again in the hope that it will return to its former standard.

I've played this course every time I've visited Florida, the first time being three months after it opened. For the last three years we've rented a house on Waterlefe twice a year. The course has been consistently excellent throughout especially if you happen to play just after it has been tricked up for the U.S. Open qualifier. Tee boxes are in good condition, fairways are excellent and the greens were lightening fast down grain but true. If you get line and pace right you make the put, no snaking or chatter. A brilliant course with lots of water and inviting driving positions.

Have played this course many times over the last 15 years. It's like playing in a nature reserve, bald eagles,deer, raccoons, alligators and fantastic bird life. The course is a good test. The greens are excellent, fast and difficult but over the last two or three years the greens surrounds and particularly the tee boxes have deteriorated. We'll play here again but it would be good to see the course restored to its former glory
