No carts - 40 minute delay - 4 1/2 hour round

There were no carts available until the tee time. Tee time was 40 minutes late on a day with good weather (why). and the round was 4 1/2 hours to play. I believe that the tee times need to be spread out.

We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!

Credit card issues and poor food at halfway

The course is good for beginner to moderate players. Very open. Issues: would not take Canadian credit cards, even US dollar cards. ??? That was a problem. The halfway house food was awful. A beef sandwich on white bread with very little meat. Along with 1 beer and a very weak ice tea (no flavour); all for $27 US . Very poor. I would play this course again but will bring my own food and drinks !!!

Way to slow

I have played the Marriot Valley course a number of times. My experience is that more than half the time, the pace of play is VERY slow. Two reasons: there are a number of hole combinations where water is in play and clearly creates a back up (5 thru 8, 16, 18). Not saying the holes should be changed, but # 6 ( par 3) plays more like a par 4, and there is always a back up. Which brings me to the second reason - no course marshals. During our recent game , we waited on every shot, and the round was over 5 hours. That should not happen. I think some tweaks to the course would help speed up play, but the course needs to be better marshalled. I will play the Palms course, but will never play the Valley course again.

More sand

I have played this course a number of times. The overall experience is good. The only negative comment is that sand traps need work - more sand, nightly grooming.

Pace of play problems

I have played the Valley course many times. It is a tight, challenging course, but playable by all. It is very good value if booked thru golfnow.com ($99) vs phoning the course ($160). Many interesting holes. Of all the courses I play in the Palm Desert area, this 1 has the biggest problem with pace of play. Yesterday it was 5 hrs, 15 minutes. We didn't see the marshall until the 17th hole! About half the times I play the Valley, the pace is overly slow. Food service usually good but they had run out of sandwiches by 1 pm ?
