Valley at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 05/09/2015Great Resort Course!
2nd of 3 rounds at The Valley Course this weekend. I am staying at the Marriott Villas on the 1st hole of the Palm course (which I did not play). This is somewhat "low" season hence some good deals on prime tee times. I played as a single by myself at 6am in just over 2 hours for $70. Fairly wide open fairways for tee shots, offset by some challenging approach shots with many elevated greens, with multiple tiers and often protected by bunkers. All carts come with GPS which is extremely helpful. The back nine is lined with condos giving it almost a stadium feel on some holes with lots of "fans" to watch.
The scenic views on some holes are very impressive. The Santa Rosa Mountains are in the background and the fairways are lined with Palm trees. Very nice looking course.
The course is in excellent condition. Greens roll consistent and true. Fairways have 3 nice cuts from fairway to secondary rough. There are no real "waste" areas or places where care is not taken to manage rough length. In "high" season this course likely gets $150 or more I would think. Excellent course, great people and challenging (yet scoreable) course.
