El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Conquistador Course
Played On 01/08/2018Decent Layout
I've only played the Conquistador course one other time in recent years and I think I prefer their Canada course. The fairways were good but areas around the greens were wet with either bare or tufted grass. The greens were good and rolled well. A half way house would be nice, since you do not return to the clubhouse after the front nine. I'll probably go back, but try to play the Canada course next time.
Crooked Tree Golf Course
Played On 12/16/2015Local Favorite
My round at Crooked Tree was very enjoyable. The course was in good shape, the greens rolled well and they always have very well maintained areas around the greens. This is good for a player like me because I don't hit many greens in regulation! The holes are interesting and varied and I love the fact that there are no buildings on it.....just beautiful open desert. If you have never played this course, make a tee time and go play, you'll love it!
Mojave Resort Golf Club
Played On 12/03/2015Nice layout
I have always enjoyed playing this course and it is usually in great shape. Unfortunately, late season hot weather had a negative impact on the over-seeding process. The winter rye is very patchy and the course does not have its usual lush appearance. That said, it was still great fun and I will definitely be back.
SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club
Played On 11/02/2015Worth the ride!
Planned on playing closer to home in Tucson, but when I found "super" deal on Golf Now decided to play Saddlebrooke Ranch. Course was in fabulous shape, paired with great playing partners and weather was perfect........an idyllic day of golf! Course extremely busy, but pace of played good and finished in under 4 hours. Only downside is food & beverage operation. The snack shop was not open and no on-course beverage cart on a very busy day. Stopped at clubhouse bar after nine, but they were busy serving lunch and service very slow. Frustrating when you're making the turn with groups behind. The parking situation is temporarily a mess as they build new golf shop facility, but that will get back to normal. All in all, a great day of golf and I will definitely be back!
Preserve Golf Course
Played On 02/27/2015Avoid windy days
I played this course once before and enjoyed the setting with great mountain views. Had a friend in town from St. Louis and thought he would enjoy it. Unfortunately, it was very windy, which made a challenging course even more so. We're both around 14 handicap and we both lost 4 or 5 balls. Areas just off the fairways are steeply sloped and bare of grass, so even being slightly off line puts you in the desert or a ravine. The two guys in the shop were busy fixing a computer issue and totally ignored us as we stood in front of them at the counter. I'm being kind to say they were both grumpy. There is no food & beverage service here, short of getting a soda or beer from the grumpy guys in the shop. Disappointing for a quality facility. I'll probably play here again because I enjoy the setting, but I wouldn't want a steady diet of it.
El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
Played On 07/05/2014Postpone Your Visit
I have played El Conquistador many times and played the Canada course on this occasion. Unfortunately, the course was in the worst shape I've ever seen. Fairways were full of bare spots, the greens were bumpy and many had areas of dirt and sand and areas around the greens were bare and muddy. I have always enjoyed playing here, but I won't return until conditioning is improved. In my opinion, the course should be closed until it can be brought back.
Haven at Haven Public Golf Club
Played On 03/15/2014Worth the drive down to Green Valley
Went as a twosome and paired up with two really nice people. It was windy when we were there, but no real problem. The course was in very good shape and although greens were a little grainey, they rolled very well. Staff in golf shop, restaurant and on beverage cart all very nice. Overall, very pleasant round and we will go back.
El Conquistador Golf & Tennis - Canada Course
Played On 12/17/2013Definitely worth a visit.
Country club quality facility, but not stuffy. Nice practice area with range, large putting green and chipping green all close together. I was paired with another single and a couple. All three players were very pleasant to play with and helped make my day more enjoyable. Greens were really fast and true. They rolled beautifully and were a joy to putt.
