North at Los Serranos Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/17/2017Great Course But Watch Out For Tournaments
This is an interesting and challenging course for players of all levels. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were not in spectacular condition but above average for a course of this caliber. The staff were friendly and helpful, reminding me that our tee time was directly behind a large tournament and offering the South course as an alternative. I really wanted to play this course but ended up regretting that choice as I had forgotten what a 5 1/2 hour round felt like. I will listen to the staff next time.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Dunes Course
Played On 07/31/2016I would play this course as often as I could
This was the first of a three course trip to La Quinta. An extremely playable course with plenty of variety and challenges. I would play this course any chance I could. Staff were terrific and very helpful. Pace of play was unreal - we seemed to be the only ones on the course but then it was 105! Despite the heat had a brilliant time. Plenty of drinking water on the course. Only issue was that greens had been aerated a week or two prior so they rolled true but were much slower than usual.
Birch Hills Golf Course
Played On 07/04/2016Among the nicest e executive courses
This is among the best short courses you can play. A majority of the par 3s are at varying wedge distances providing an excellent opportunity to test your short game. Greens are in very good condition, faster than one would expect and with considerable slope and undulations. Played early on 4th of July in 2 1/2 hours
The Stadium Course at PGA WEST
Played On 03/23/2016Classic Pete Dye Design
This is a classic Pete Dye design that is visually intimidating but very playable and fair. Many tee shots appear to offer only a sliver of fairway but in fact there is plenty to work with. This course boasts more very deep bunkers than you will encounter anywhere. Avoid them if you can. The greens are among the best you will play anywhere - quick and true.
Hidden Valley Golf Club
Played On 03/13/2015Challenging day in a 2 club wind
Fairways and greens are consistently good for a facility in this price range. Played fair in spite of a two club wind. #10 green is only half a green. The entire front half is a false front that will roll your ball 20 yards back up the fairway. Bunker sand is far better than most courses in the area. Staff are always polite and helpful
Eagle Glen Golf Club
Played On 02/22/2015Wet but playable
Despite on again off again showers Eagle Glen was quite playable. Pace of play could have been better but at 4.5 hrs was no worse than expected on a wet Sunday. Greens were in great shape as usual and maintained their consistent speed despite the damp conditions. The practice range could use a reference for distances. Encountered the resident deer for the third consecutive time. I look forward to my next round at EG.
Skywest Golf Course
Played On 02/13/2015Better than average muni
Skywest is better than your average municiple golf course. Although extremely flat, at 6,400 yds from whites it plays plenty long forcing you to use all the clubs in your bag. Generous fairways but stay out of the trees or you will pay the price. Keep your ball below the hole on these relatively fast greens. Greens themselves are in very good shape for a muni that gets this much use

The people of Pacific Grove are so lucky to have such a gem of a course in thier community. I could play there every week for the rest of my life.
