Painted Mountain Golf Club
Played On 11/07/2017good value, friendly layout, senior friendly
This course winds it's way through a residential development, but the fairways are generous. The holes are short from the white tees, and you see a lot of retirees playing the course. The fairways were in great shape the days I played, and the greens are in good condition. The beverage carts come around frequently. All the staff from the counter to the starter to the cart women are very friendly. I play this course every time I visit my sister who lives in Mesa.
Ken McDonald Golf Course
Played On 11/05/2017Best muni course I've played in long time
We took advantage of a great value to play this course. It was coming out of their over seeding and carts were restricted to cart paths. The course was in great condition and is a fun layout.
Resort at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort
Played On 10/20/2016Course open during overseeding season
Municipal course in very good condition. Very friendly staff. Restaurant and bar on site. Very good value. Play the Resort Course for a links style layout.
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 04/29/2015country club feel, very playable course
The driving range is pretty sparse considering this is a country club. The course is well maintained. I played in late April and it was starting to show the effects of dry conditions. I enjoyed playing this course from the white tees and found the 124 slope rating justified. I would play it again and recommend it to friends. The back 9 is where the courses challenges come in to play. Some blind shots and you can hit through fairways into trouble.
Painted Mountain Golf Club
Played On 04/28/2015good course to play for your first round
This course has a rating of 108, It does take a bad shot to find trouble on most holes, but there is water on a number of them. It's flat. I played it twice on one day and both rounds were under 3 hours. Greens were fast and true. Fairways were in great shape. I would recommend this course as one to shake the rust off your swing before taking on a more challenging course. My wife would like playing this course. Houses are well back on most holes.
TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
Played On 11/5/2013Must play, one time but very pricey. Great staff!
If you watch tournament golf, this is a must play course. From the whites, it's very short but difficulty comes from all the deep bunkers front and back of greens. I played in early November, teeing off at 1:10 for $200 and worried about running out of daylight by 5:45. We got done but just barely. Course and practise facilities are well maintained. Staff is outstandingly friendly and helpful. They are already though setting up for the tournament in February and will have the 90 degree rule in place until after the tournament. When we played they are not mowing the greens very tight yet, again protecting the course for the tournament. They had the back tees roped off at #16, and the grass on the green was very long, and slow rolling. Still I enjoyed my round and would recommend it to others. The staff reports that after the tournament, the TPC is going to thoroughly update and revise the course to make it more challenging for the big hitting pro's. Very playable from the whites and blues for the high handicappers.
Superstition Springs Golf Club
Played On 4/5/2013good value, challenging course, played slow
I used golfnow to book a tee time for a single. I was not looking for an expensive course to play and was satisfied with this course at $65 plus tax. Decent driving range. Greens in very good shape, and fast. This is an old style course with small greens and lots of deep sand and grass bunkers by the greens. Fairways are pretty wide open.
ASU Karsten Golf Course
Played On 4/4/2013greens a little beat up, but fast and true. fairways a little burned out in some areas. links style, with wide open fairways.
I hadn't played for several months and was looking for my first round on my golf vacation to be a forgiving course. ASU Karsten is a good value, challenging from the men's tees but not overwhelming. Played a little slow, and we did not see any marshalls or beer carts out on the course.
The Cedars at Dungeness
Played On 8/16/2012over priced and uninteresting course
A long way to go, for a not very interesting or challenging course. But the staff in the pro shop are very nice.
Thank you so much for the 5 Stars! We work hard on keeping the course in top condition, so thank you for taking notice! We hope to have you back out on the course soon!
