Korn Ferry Course on a golfer’s island

Full disclosure - about six months ago I became a full time resident on Skidaway Island where The Landings is located and this course is one of the reasons why I moved.

Of the six courses at The Landings, this is my favorite. I’ve heard it described as the young man’s course. It’s long and there’s way less shade than on the other courses here. It’s almost links style in a GA sort of way. It winds through the marsh on the north west side of the island and it has some fantastic views scattered around the layout. There’s a couple holes where gators frequent, and there’s always a decent possibility to see some massive bird of prey like an eagle watching you get Fazio’d by a collection area or an undulating green.

This is now the site of the Korn Ferry Tour’s (formerly Web.com Tour’s) Savannah Golf Championship in the spring, and it’s an amazing time.

The clubhouse and pro shop staff are amazing as are most of the staff at the Landings. Always friendly and wanting to know how your day is going, the place makes you want to join the club. This was the club where Jim (who has since moved on to a new position in Arkansas) remembered me from six months prior because we were both New England fans, and where Pete is always asking me to join him in a round (so he can out drive me by 100 yards).

If you get a chance to come to the SGC or to play the course yourself, absolutely jump at it. It won’t be an easy round, but you’ll have a fantastic time.

Interesting Arthur Hills track

My second favorite course at The Landings.

Arthur Hills course that features a few par 4s that I just have to accept are 3 shot greens for me. Interesting layout with a couple of picturesque holes that are iconic Veorgia coastal golf. Even an old cemetery in the fairway of a riverside par 5 to lend to the ambiance.

Staff is friendly and golf focused. Shop has a decent selection and will repair clubs. Range is usually less crowded than other courses at the Landings since there is only one course from that clubhouse.

Close to the Fitness Center and the steakhouse. The Oakridge Pub is a good beer spot post-round and has hotdogs at the turn.

Great Views, Challenging course

We rode our scooters up to the club with our clubs on our back. Starter was helpful if a little gruff. Beverage cart was riding around. Good placement of break houses w/ bathrooms and water. Absolutely beautiful course. Got lucky on the weather, not a lot of wind. Lots of logo wear in the shop. Pace of play was pretty slow - they only allow 10 minutes between tee times, and since it's tourist golf, there can be backups with uncourteous people taking too much time. Have your camera ready and take pictures while you're waiting in the tee boxes.

Awesome

i have a friend that lives on the course and specifically come to play here when I visit. Very pretty course. Challenging for a high handicapper like me, but with my friend caddying for me I had my best round ever. Great food and friendly staff at the bar.

Great course on a mountain

This is a private course. Got a tee time on GolfNow. It was pretty expensive, but worth it all the way. Staff was very friendly. Since it's private, the tee times were not too stacked up, and pace of play was decent. The clubhouse is spectacular. My wife snuck into the members-only locker room and said it was crazy awesome. Had a sandwich from the very friendly snack bar attendant. Best greens and fairways I've seen on Maui. The views are pretty great throughout the entire course and there were some interesting rock and water features. Overall, totally recommend if you have the money to spend.

Good value course

Overall, this course was a good value. It's in a nice area up on the mountainside with views of Kahului and the water. It was in very pretty good shape, and was a playable course for a high handicapper like me. We had an early afternoon tee time, and there was a bit of a backup getting off the first tee and it was pretty slow throughout the day. I was also slightly disappointed that the snack bar closed at 4pm (which we weren't told about) and we didn't have the opportunity to grab any drinks for the back nine. The golf staff was very helpful though, getting us some towels to use for the showers as the course was closing. I'd recommend it and it's worth the drive, wherever you are staying on Maui.

Beautiful Bermuda

My wife and I played here on a weekday midmorning. The weather report called for on and off rain and thunder, so the course wasn't really crowded. Got a great price via GolfNow at about 60% off. Totally worth it. Views are pretty spectacular on many of the holes. Course staff is awesome, facilities seem very nice. It is a little tough to figure out where you are on the course - their signage for the tees isn't great, so pay attention to the GPS in your cart. Doesn't seem like they pack in the tee times, so pace of play was fine until we ran into a slow inconsiderate twosome in front of us with a few holes to go. Greens in good shape - fast.

Great value near Hilton Head

This course is just off Hilton Head island over the bridge. Staff was very friendly. I signed up for a Saturday afternoon 9 holes about 3pm. Starter was very friendly, told us to hit the range and start whenever we were ready. The only thing that was tough was a threesome in front of us that were on a 5 hour 18 pace, and they didn't pause to let us hit through. Since it was late in the afternoon, there wasn't a starter to force the issue. Other than the slow play, it was a great value, and not very crowded for a weekend. Course is in good condition, greens were fast.

The Blue course really is a links course

The Blue course is a nine hole links style course. The first and ninth holes don't really fall into that category, but from 2-7, you really do get that links experience. No trees, lots of doglegs and high rough. Easy to lose balls if you don't keep them in the fairway. They open the links at 8am, so try to get there a little early and get out before it gets crowded so you can take your time. The pro shop staff is very friendly.
