DeBell Golf Club
Played On 02/03/20182 HOLES..90 MINUTES....RUINED OUR DAY
COURSE OVERBOOKED...HAD TO WAIT FOR A CART...NO POSSIBLE WAY TO USE PRACTICE RANGE..WAY TO BUSY...BUNCH OF DRUNKS. MARSHALL HAD NO CONTROL OVER ROWDY GROUPS...PLAYED AT 8 SOME! WE LEFT AFTER PLAYING ONLY 2 HOLES IN 90 MINUTES AND FACING A 20-30 MINUTE WAIT ON HOLE 3. GOT OUR MONEY BACK...BUT RUINED OUR DAY...DON'T GO THERE ON WEEKEND...PROBABLY OK DURING WORK WEEK.
Palms at Marriott's Desert Springs Resort
Played On 03/06/2017not a flat spot to be found!
not for a beginner player...but very beautiful.
Lots of undulation, many many blind spots...
high greens with lots of slope and tricky breaks.
Husband enjoyed more than I did but of course he hits it further and did not have to deal with some of the issues I did.
Fair bunker and water placement. Only played for first time-would probably enjoy more the next time.
Los Robles Greens Golf Course
Played On 01/19/2017nice course-but very noisy from freeway noise
The course itself is nice. On a day when most courses were closed due to past heavy rains...they allowed play with Cart Path Only restrictions. Most fairways were playable altho there were some very very wet areas...even so, we enjoyed the course itself. It is a fair to everyone type of course.
What we didn't enjoy was the noise from the freeway which we were able to hear from almost every hole..we prefer a quiet setting, as do most of our friends. For this reason alone we would not recommend this course to friends.
The office staff could use some "customer service classes" as my appearance in the office seemed to be an annoyance. No instructions were given as to "where to go" Layout of course etc....and believe me, for first time players of this course, IT WAS NOT EASY TO FIGURE OUT WHERE THE NEXT HOLE WAS...VERY POOR ARROWS ETC. Thank goodness the marshal was out and about (very very nice guy) and he was able to point us in the right direction and tell us which path to take when there were 3 to choose from.
Sterling Hills Golf Club
Played On 01/09/2017fine-considering the circumstances
After one solid week of rain this course was not too bad to play. No carts were allowed on fairways-cart path only conditions. A couple of the greens actually had puddles on them and the bunkers were "little lakes"...so we made sure to try and hit the ball as close as we could to the cart path and stay away from the bunkers LOL.....only 15 people played for the entire day BUT we all seemed to show up at the same time...even so, we all moved along just fine.
Lookout Mountain Golf Club
Played On 12/11/2016Tricky greens! Lots of undulation.
Stayed at the Hilton for a week and played this course every day with my husband. The course is in excellent condition....but beware, it is TARGET GOLF. Miss the fairway..you are in trouble...and you have probably lost a ball. The greens are difficult to read and to get the speed correct is a real challenge. A couple of 3 putts here and there..LOL. Don't think about walking because it is very very hilly and steep. Long distances between holes as well. The carts are in good shape however do not have GPS's. Bring a rangefinder..have fun. We did!
Olivas Links Golf Course
Played On 07/14/2016great weather-course in great condition
Normally not a fan of links design but this course was great fun. Just enough rough and bunkers to keep you on your toes but not totally defeat you. The green are however ANOTHER THING! They are huge, some have multiple breaks and all will make you PAY THE PRICE if you don't focus. We had a good afternoon and made some new friends.
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 10/12/2015love this course every time we play!!
Great weather, friendly people...course in very good condition (as usual) Pace of play good. 3 .5 hours for 18 holes!
Avila Beach Golf Resort
Played On 08/13/2015fairways and green good condition...but....
Always enjoy playing this course when in the area, however, the practice facilities are terrible. The "range" is AWFUL. There is no chipping practice area. The putting practice area is small. HOWEVER, ON THE PLUS SIDE...the course has interesting and somewhat challenging holes but is fair! It can get quite warm in the afternoon...so try to get out by 9AM the latest OR wait until 5 or so....It is a good value for the $$$$
We prefer to play by ourselves as a couple and they have always been able to ensure that for us. A round of 18 will usually take somewhere between 4 and 4 1/2 hours which is fine with us. Try to go during the week and it will be a very nice experience for you. We are retired and play during the week only so I have no idea of what it is like on the week-end.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed the conditions of the golf course. Fantastic tips and great advice for fellow golfers to tackle the challenge of LMGC! We hope you will visit us again soon!
