ChampionsGate Golf Club - International
Played On 09/05/2021Always a great experience
International course has an amazing layout and pace was great for a resort 4 hours 20 minutes. Staff was spectacular per usual and facilities are great. Practice green and short game area was closed for maintenance but range is open and in great shape. Course conditions are great from tee to fringe but greens seem to be having trouble recovering from summer maintenance. No visible aeration holes as it's been over a month but they are bumpy and spotty. Yellow spots. They are still fast, probably 11 but bumps affect the roll and that is a minor issue. CG greens are always tour level firmness. Extremely receptive as evidenced by the spin on my irons which is normally minimal. Considering the reputation of CG I expect the greens will be perfect by fall and back to their prominence.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 08/08/2021Amazing deal!
Anytime you can play Championsgate for under $100 DO IT! We got on for $70 and it included range balls. Driving range is great but practice green/short game area was closed for maintenance. Understandable in summer but starter directed us to small green near international first tee. It was acceptable. Course conditions were great but rough was very deep. Miss the fairway and you'll pay dearly. Pace of play was ok for resort golf 4.5 hours but that was expected. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. Overall I can't give less than 5 stars considering how great conditions were for central Florida golf in August.
Excellent! Thank you for your kind words. We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing ChampionsGate Golf Club.
The Club at Eaglebrooke
Played On 03/22/2021Fun layout!
I've heard a lot about this course and when we got a cheaper than usual rate, I figured something might be wrong. Turns out the greens were top-dressed and we weren't told on the site or when I called to confirm. The sanded greens made putting very tough but I was able to overlook it because everything else was great. Layout is very challenging yet fair. Greens were receptive and although sandy, in good shape. Fairways were near perfect and tee boxes were nice. Pace was good even though starter sent our twosome out behind four slower golfers. They eventually sped up and all was good. Practice facilities are top notch and staff were friendly overall. I'd return but recommend a notice about course maintenance. It could affect our day considerably.
Sherman Hills Golf Club
Played On 01/24/2021Great value in Tampa bay
Price: Great
Range: bad grass and unclean old balls
Tees: Good
Fairways: Good
Greens: Good. Decent speed and receptive
Layout: Good. Front links style, back parkland style
Pace: Very good. 4some done in 4 hours Sun. Morning
Extras: New carts, pro shop equipment values, No stupid Covid hole noodles, No rakes in sand.
Overall Sherman hills is a great value and choice in winter when rates are excessive. Just be aware that greens on holes 13 and 14 are bad and have been for years. Those holes flood and are susceptible to storm damage. It's expected and if you're willing to overlook it, this course is a great place to play.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Played On 12/27/2020Great except for pace of play
Greens 9/10
Fairways 8/10
Tee boxes 6/10
Layout is fun but many holes where driver can't be used if you hit over 200. Course is in really good shape especially for the price. Range is water and mats are in use. Chipping green is overgrown and not able to be used. Here's where it goes downhill though. Pace of play is horrible and after reading previous reviews, I can't understand why management doesn't remedy it. They responded to those reviews but it still seems to be a problem. Took us 5 hours. We were a twosome but their was a single behind us that we invited to join after nine. Also a twosome behind him. Seems to me the starter should have paired us up but somebody should do something because pace of play was the only thing preventing it from being a great course.
Hi, thanks for leaving us a review! We're glad you enjoyed your time at Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club and hope you'll come see us again soon.
Arlington Ridge Golf Club
Played On 12/23/2020Always a reliable option
Arlington is always a reliable course, especially now when rates are high at other more known courses. The course has gone through ownership changes a few times which has led to less than perfect conditions. Now though, its in very good shape. Tee boxes good, fairways very good, greens are excellent although poor player maintenance has led to imperfections. Players don't fix their ball marks and drag their feet. Noticed this on previous rounds. Range is always in good shape but no bag stands. Multiple good yardage target greens and good grass. As far as pace of play, in the few dozen or so times I've played, never had an issue. Arlington rarely disappoints and is in one of my top ten florida courses to play.
Thank you so much for your review! We are happy to see you enjoyed our course. We value your feedback, and hope to see you back in the future.
Huntington Hills Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/13/2020Horrible!
This golf course is an absolute disgrace. First of all, no etiquette by anyone on the course. Carts drive on range, within feet of green and on tee box(we saw tracks on multiple boxes). As for conditions: tee boxes were 7/10, fairways were 6/10, greens were 5/10 but seemed recently top dressed. The biggest problem was pace of play. We started on 10 because a shotgun tournament set us 20 minutes late. We saw a couple fivesomes but the big problem was at the turn. It seems another mini tournament was going out when we turned on 1 which started out ok but when we hit 3 it was pandemonium. 2 groups with 9 carts sitting on 3 tee waiting, with another group on green. We could see one hole ahead and there must have been three more groups there. Our under two hour nine would have turned into a 5.5 hour round. Not one ranger, not one beverage cart. Sad and disgraceful. DON'T PLAY HERE if you care about a fun, good flowing round.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - Las Colinas Course
Played On 09/20/2020Great except for pace of play
Range and practice green is beautiful. Staff is very friendly. Course conditions were very good and drainage is good considering rains we've had. Greens were smooth and good speed. Only problem was pace of play was horrible!! Our round took almost 5 hours due to one group who had a 4 hole gap between them and group in front of them. Ranger told us about it but apparently didn't do anything about it. Unacceptable in my opinion. This is my probably tenth time at mission inn and this is the first time I've had a pace problem so hopefully an anomaly. Great deal otherwise for $45.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course
Played On 08/23/2020Nice place but prefer Las Colinas
Overall this course is nice, I realize it's old but I dont like the proximity of tee boxes to previous greens. Conditions were good but wet due to rains which they obviously can't help. The range was tore up bad and I think they could have moved hitting area back to allow for better grass. Putting green was bad but recently aerated. Didn't seem like it was cut in a couple days. Staff was nice and pace was decent. 4.5 hours on a wet resort course is acceptable. I honestly prefer Las Colinas which is a gem of a layout imo. Never had less than a perfect round there. Overall a 4 out of 5 for El Campeon.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 06/07/2020Resort quality at muni price
National is in immaculate shape. Layout is perfect and conditions are great. Range is in great shape also. This course is normally very expensive so playing it for $60 felt like a steal.
Terrific! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at ChampionsGate Golf Club. We look forward to seeing you at the course soon for another 5-star experience!
Sherman Hills Golf Club
Played On 05/17/2020Very impressed
This course has always been up and down as far as conditions but right now its in great shape. Two greens are bad as usual but its more of a drainage problem. A few tee boxes need work also. The rest of the greens and fairways are really nice though. Fairways are plush and greens roll true. Pace of play was great as our foursome finished in 4 hours. Great value considering we only payed $35.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - Las Colinas Course
Played On 04/26/2020Immaculate conditions
The course was in the best shape I've seen it after playing three other times. Greens, fairways, and tee boxes were perfect. Carts were clean and disinfected and staff were kind while maintaining sanitary standards. Pace of play was perfect as we finished in four hours exactly. Got an amazing deal today and I'll definitely be back.
Juliette Falls
Played On 04/12/2020Worth the drive
Second time playing this gem and it's the best value I've ever seen. Paid $60 but considering what top tier courses charge, this one is worth more. Range facilities are top notch. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are immaculate! Layout is challenging yet fair. It rewards driver length and accuracy. Played from 6200 and as a 9hdcp. who averages 240 off tee, I felt I could score well providing my driver was on. Greens are big and a bit undulating. Yesterday pins were in some brutal spots but with the multiple tier greens, you are rewarded with good approach placement. Staff is nice and beverage cart is around often. I love this place and plan on making the hour plus trek at least a few times a year. Treat yourself! You wont be disappointed.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 02/08/2020Great value
Course is in great shape and it's a great value for the money. Toughest challenge in Tampa bay. Staff is very nice too.
Shingle Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/11/2019Great course
Everything was great except for one. End of round, the valet takes your cart and clubs and drives it up to bag drop. You then have to walk up to meet them. I think you should be able to drive up yourself. I understand no cars in parking lot but customer service wise, you should be able to drive it to bag drop. Place is amazing though!
Westchase Golf Club
Played On 11/21/2018Never disappoints
Westchase is a great course with consistently good conditions. Pace of play is always good and practice area is top notch. My favorite part of this course is the layout. Very fair, yet challenging.
Sherman Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/10/2018Best kept secret in the area
I dont know why this course doesn't get more traffic. I consider myself an expert in golf courses and always rate fairly. Sherman hills is a gem that never fails to impress. Greens are near perfect, tee boxes are great, fairways are a little bare but in good shape. The layout is fun because it's a links style front 9 and more traditional on the back. Pace of play is always good and staff is nice. Range is average but buckets are cheap. There wasn't a beverage cart on Sunday but course wasn't crowded so that's expected. If you want a solid Tampa bay course, do yourself a favor and drive a bit north and play here. I know I'll be back soon.
Harmony Golf Preserve
Played On 04/07/2018Good but could be great
The course itself is in really good shape. Tee boxes have some bare spots but overall nice. Fairways are cut short but in great shape. The greens are spectacular and roll fast and true. Bunkers and rough are well maintained. The course layout is great and generally wide open. The restaurant food is very good and pro shop staff are nice. My only issue is the cart attendant did not fill the coolers with ice or the sand bucket with sand. He did not seem like he cared about anything either. Wasn't there when I arrived or when I finished. Also, there is no water on the course at all. Although we were notified by a sign in the pro shop, i find this odd. The beverage cart does not sell alcohol at this time due to a beer/wine license issue. Probably the reason the first shift cart girl didn't even acknowledge us and just drove right by us. Overall I like the course and will return but those issues should be resolved. The layout and conditions will bring me back but the few issues could get old in the long run, especially living 2.5 hours away.
Legends Golf Resort - Parkland Course
Played On 03/12/2018One of my favorite courses of all time
Played this course again today. Last played two years ago. Course conditions were immaculate even in a torrential freezing downpour. Fairways and greens are great. Tee boxes are 4/5. Layout is challenging yet fair. Starter was extremely nice, pro shop and restaurant staff are great. Only bad part about this course is the bag drop guys are very short and rude. Be prepared to walk to practice areas because carts are not allowed there. Can't wait to play again.
Palmetto at Myrtlewood Golf Club
Played On 03/22/2017A must play, immaculate!
We played Palmetto course as our last round of a four round trip, it was a perfect ending. First off the wind was 25 mph gusts while we were warming up so we expected bad things. After the wind died down but still breezy due to the intracoastal, the course played very fair. Tees, fairways, traps, and greens were immaculate! I've played many five star courses and payed over $100 for them from Sawgrass, Copperhead, World woods, Southern hills and these conditions are comparable yet more playable for the amateur. Staff was great, especially the cart/bagman. He was very helpful and organized in his area of expertise which he said he's been doing for many years. I would like to say that playing this course up will be short but require you to use every club in your bag. We played from the gold 6000 yds and I used 5 iron off the tee on two par 4's due to the short dog-legs. In closing, I enjoyed this course more than any other on the strand and can't wait to play it again next year.
Awesome! We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing ChampionsGate Gate Golf Club.
