Lakeside Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2018Worst experience.
This course has always been in terrible shape with awful service but I met a first in my 30 year golfing life on Friday. They wouldn’t let me play.
I’m a 7 cap that plays 100+ rounds a year. So I know how a course works.
I show up as a single for a quick cheap round and they tell me I can go in 10 mins. I ask if there is anything later because I’d like to warm up.
Previously I had called to inquire about tee times and knew there was a gap between 1:08 and 1:56 with NO reservations. They asked me to go at 1:08.
I asked if I could go warm up and head out. And I’d play slow walking as a single and wouldn’t bother the groups in front of me.
They proceeded to tell me I wouldn’t be allowed to play as a single. I’d have to wait until 2:48 for another group with an opening (along the way lying that the tee sheet was full..... it wasn’t).
I left to play a much better course 15 mins away. Should have just went there to begin with.
This course even without this incident is usually in terrible shape, it’s overcrowded, and has awful service.
Advise to avoid.
Peaks at Tonto Verde Golf Club
Played On 12/31/2017Fabulous Course!
Amazing course and facilities:
Amenities: 2nd to none. Pro driving range, putting green, short game area. They have an 18 hole putting practice course that wraps around a waterfall pond. Clubhouse is one of the best ive ever seen. Just an amazing facility!!!
Experience: Course was in fantastic shape. We teed off at 9:30 and I barely saw a soul the entire round. Played 3.25 hours. Views were 4/5 and homes and architecture were great scenery.
Golf: Course had tremendous width. Plenty of room to land drives. Greens were LARGE but undulating and fast without being gimmicky. The course was perfect for my 70+ old playing partners as it was wide, but perfect challenge for me the single cap golfer because of strategic bunkering, greens that made you hit the right spot and well planned flow ways you needed to carry.
Paid $80 and it was well worth it. great experience!!!
Rancho Manana Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2017Beautiful views, average course!
Played on an afternoon that was gorgeous. First off course is beautiful. Some of the best views and sights in the area. Course has extreme elevation changes and is beautifully adorned with plants and flowers.
The course itself is short... like 6000 from tips. It is fairly easy to get around and you shouldn't use a club higher than a 5 iron. Saying that it compensates for being short with being very tight. If you can hit the driver straight you can driver wedge around the course.
Some interesting holes, but overall id recommend for a beautiful afternoon thru the high elevations with beautiful views, but some are pure golf standpoint i'd play somewhere else.
Legend Trail Golf Club
Played On 12/30/2017Great time!
Was first group off with 3 Legend Trail residents and members..
Course: Great layout and course. Tough, and fair conditions. Moderate elevation changes, strategic bunkering and multiple shots required. Not prime time of year but was in fantastic condition for the time of year.
Experience: Great staff, 4/5 for practice facilities. All you need. Good grass range, chipping and bunker area, large putting green. Played round in 3.5 hours, members i played with were exceptional to spend the time with and helped me our with some yardages and targeting when needed.
Highly recommended!
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club
Played On 12/29/2017Great fun and challenging course
Great course. Great range. Great facility. All true.
My annoyance was with staff. I showed up 1.5 before my round ready to go only to realize I forgot my golf shoes. The pro shop guy was not really interested in selling me shoes and was throwin me pairs to get it over with (I was more than willing to own Up to my mistake and spend $200 on shoes). I ended just buying the worst and cheapest pair of shoes the pro shop guy tossed at me.
After I left pro shop with my new $100 shoes I was THEN informed of an 1.5 frost delay. Making my tee time 2.5 hours from now. More than enough time to run back o Scottsdale and get my shoes and come back for my tee time. If only I was informed at some point by bag drop or pro shop of the extended frost delay.
All this kind of wrecked my experience. But the course is as advertised.
Kokopelli Golf Course
Played On 12/27/2017Hardpan R us
Cool layout. Great range. Friendly staff.
Great value. Paid $42 with a cart at prime time.
Fairways and greens were just ok. A little battered. People not replacing ballparks much.
Outside of the fairway it was 100 hard dirt. No sand, no rough just hard hard dirt. Balls would run 100 yards on drive by missing fairway. It was a little ridiculous.
Other than that was an enjoyable cheap round, good for seniors I was playing with, and pace was good.
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 12/25/2017Solid, Easy start to trip
Starfire was a good course, with pretty good upkeep and an interesting layout. Round seemed slow (there was a 5 some ahead) but it only took 4:15. You should be under 4 on this course. Only 6000 yards from tips.
Positives: Nice layout, good condition, fairly easy for seniors or new golfers, good warmup round to start trip for lower handicaps, perfect location, great staff.
Negatives: A bit on the easy side if under 10 cap, close proximity on some holes to houses, range uses limited flight balls (still better than no range), course was a bit wet from overnight watering.
Overall for $50 and under a great option if you are in scottsdale and looking for a good quick round that isn't the killer some of the other courses are.
Thank you for playing here at Kokopelli! We appreciate your feedback and will use it to better ourselves and our course. We have been trying ti improve the hard pan areas and will continue to improve those areas. Thanks again for playing and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Thanks
