Great Outdoors RV & Golf Resort
Played On 02/24/2017Challenging but fair in a great setting
3 of us played from the Yellow and Lady's tees. We all found this course to be challenging as you had to be aware of the water that was at least parallel for many holes and in some cases you had to fly them on your approach shot if you didn't come in at the right angle. The greens were very good with true breaks and fairly smooth runs. A few greens had had some kill and therefore bare spots but the pins were placed fairly in those cases. Fairways were good for this price with the rough needing more growth. This course is great value for the money. The reception from the pro shop and starter to the rangers was first rate; very welcoming, friendly and supportive to everyone. The pro in the shop went out of his way to make sure one of us received her sandwich lunch before starting out.

Much improved from a few years ago! The greens are in good shape although tricky to read and the cups were not finely cut. We didn't have many curl-ins. You had to hit dead center which added to the challenge. Speed of greens was very good. The rough was rough in terms of evenness of vegetation so again a challenge. Distances were accurate and fair for different levels of golfers (Red, Green, Yellow, White, Blue.). Bunkers still need work. Beware that water hazards cut in before greens so look at the map! Don't bother trying to get a snack at the turn since there is very little ready to go.

Played On 02/14/2017A Tougher Course Than Expected
This is an excellent course for the money! It plays long partly because of the water hazards that line most fairways or cross them especially on the approach to the greens. The patchy rough makes the use of long irons or fairway metals difficult. Hybrids are very useful on this course. Greens are slower but fair and are difficult to read (the old "slopes to the water" idea doesn't necessarily work here). We had an enjoyable round and although slow at times the many species of birds provided added enjoyment.

Played On 02/06/2017A surprisingly challenging course
2 couples played on a Monday morning. Tee time was right on schedule and we teed off behind 3 gentlemen. The pace was slow at first as they waited for the 4some in front but later that 4some wad not to be seen yet the pace continued to be slow. The fairways were in good shape and the greens rolled smoothly although a bit on the slow side. Sand bunkers were well kept. The rough was challenging in the unevenness of vegetation but certainly playable with a hybrid or iron. The 19th hole was nice and relaxing. We'll go back.
Legends on the Niagara Golf Course - Battlefield
Played On 09/23/2016A Challenging course!
Played on a damp and very breezy Friday afternoon.
A bit confusing in that club drop off is at starters station/snack bar but have to go up to main building to check in at pro Shop. used to have shuttle from parking lot to clubhouse/starter. Played Battlefield course. Tee off was right on time. Fairways, traps (many many!) and overall conditions were excellent after a hot dry summer. The greens were only moderately fast which threw me off as I remembered them from 3 years ago as a lot faster. The greens are huge with many false fronts so you have to land on the green and not the fringe. Because of the slower speed I personally over read the breaks and took a while to adjust. Played from the whites which is challenging for 71 year olds but doable - just relax and play for position! "Bogey is the new par!"
It is a wonderful course and facility and the price is right for locals.

Played On 03/28/2016A Totally Different Florida Course
Having played many courses in the Sarasota/Punta Gorda area and in Kissimmee this course is completely different - no water hazards! Not a drop! However, there is a multitude of sand and waste bunkers lining the fairways and forming the rough. Add in the "hilly" terrain (Florida???) and you have to really think your way around this course. Greens are true but slow which means less break for sure and you have to adjust your visual feel for distances.

Played On 03/23/2016An excellent afternoon of golf
Booked through Golf Now as a twosome and expected to be paired up but there was a gap so we were able to play right away. There was enough of a gap such that we finished in 3.5 hours in spite of a few delays looking for balls we thought should have been in play. The fairways were very good, the rough a bit patchy but the greens were in excellent shape. There were a lot of fairway traps that could have been waste bunkers as there was one rake for a 75 yard bunker and it looked like other players treated them as waste bunkers(???). All in all an excellent course and very good value.

Played On 03/06/2016A fun round of golf
Two couples played on a Sunday in beautiful weather. The course was in good shape but the greens were slow and bumpy. The layout is challenging with water cutting across and alongside the fairways of course plus there are sand bunkers in front of the greens or at least given today's pin placements. Not too long from the whites but placement is necessary for approach shots. No refreshment cart today and no marshals so pace was slow slow.
Kings Gate Golf Club
Played On 02/23/2016A Surprising Challenge!
Played as two couples with the guys hitting from the Blues. Water comes into play on almost every hole with challenging carries required for many holes. Course was in good shape with smooth moderate speed greens (not as much break as meets the eye). The ladies felt comfortable with the distances and challenges.
Thank you for the review of the course! We hope you come back again next time yuo are in town!
Kingsway Country Club
Played On 02/09/2016An excellent afternoon of golf
This was an excellent course for two couples looking for a moderately challenging round of golf. The fairways were in good shape, the greens were not fast (which means less break than observed) but the ball rolled true, the traps were playable and the water hazards fairly located (any losses were my bad shots).
We all liked the course and decided that we would like to return.
Hi Soupy45,
Thank you for choosing Kingsway Country Club! It is great to hear that you enjoyed the course and will be returning. We look forward to having you back again soon!
Blue/Ridge at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club
Played On 11/05/2015Fast and tricky Greens!
A great course to play! On our way home from Ocean City and after playing relatively flat courses this course was a pleasant change. We were warned about the fast greens by the very welcoming starter and pro shop staff but we still had to get used to the speed and slope (often optical illusions that seemed to show slope uphill!). the greens were large and undulating but in great shape considering it was November. Lots of great vistas from tee boxes. We played Blue and Ridge nines from the whites which was quite challenging but fair for 70 year olds.
The River Club
Played On 03/12/2015An interesting old style course
An old style course with mature trees that is a pleasure to play. Some interesting layouts with plenty of room between fairways so no threats from other golfers. A few challenging carries that is as much visual as actual distance. We played whites as 70 year olds and were fine. The marshal was very good in getting the group ahead to pick up the pace. Overall a good course that is a little over-priced unless you can get a deal.

Played On 03/05/2015A Nice Surprise!
Given the location in a residential development the course was spacious and attractive! We played from the Blue tees and found many opportunities to use a driver - distance and forgiveness. Ultimately used most clubs in the bag so that says something about the course (and my game?). The traps were groomed and playable, the hazards well-marked and though there were plenty of trees and bushes errant shots could be found quickly. Fairways and rough were in good shape. Greens were a bit bumpy but spacious and many had some good breaks to keep it interesting. Pace of play was excellent even though we started after lunch when volume of players and newcomers were most apt to be there. The ladies' tees were placed in appropriate locations. Where is the clubhouse for drinks?
Oyster Creek Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/25/2015An excellent executive course!
Had a very good experience playing this course as two senior couples. Quite scenic with lots of trees especially on the front nine. Some fairways are tight so unless you are good enough to hit the greens consider a shorter club for accuracy. Greens are fair and moderate speed.
Peridia Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/16/2015A pleasant afternoon of golf
Two couples had an excellent afternoon of golf with enough challenge for all. Fairways were in good shape, rough was fair and the greens were moderately but looked fast with fairly true breaks. When you putt under 5 feet hit with good pace because breaks will be more pronounced at slower speeds. Only one tee time late at start but pace was really slow on the front nine so 2:15 hrs at turn. Back nine the pace picked up to 2 hrs.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Eagle's Landing
Played On 11/05/2014A Totally Fun Course!
Our foursome of bogey plus golfers were warmly greeted and received an excellent overview of the course. As described the first six holes were good but not unique. And then the fun began! The next 12 holes were along the shore/coastal wetlands with definite target golf requirements. Big doglegs with tempting shortcuts, double water/wetlands hazards along and cutting across fairways and demanding carries made for a great strategic round. Greens were huge but with multiple slopes that were often steep. Downhill putts were usually very quick but uphill putts were unusually slow - look at the grain! Coming back next year for sure!
Eagle's Pointe Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2014challenging around the greens
Excellent value for the money. Course is in good condition but any bump and run is to be avoided with soft approaches or very long bermuda grass that "sucks up" your ball even 3 feet from the green. There are no diagrams on the scorecard or at the tees so every hole is a mystery and sometimes there are unpleasant surprises like the par 3 " island green"with the front obscured by brush so you must hit the green and hold - surprise!
Local knowledge is a must to score well.
Pinebrook Ironwood Golf Course
Played On 03/10/2014Excellent executive course
As an executive course in the city this course is very appealing. The greens were excellent - among the best we have played of any level course! Fairways and " rough" were a bit sketchy (dry, patchy) but expected. Some well placed water hazards (one ditch was not marked on the course layout just before the green! )and sand traps (a bit too shallow sand in some) protecting the greens. Pin placements were reasonable with a few "sucker positions" to make you think. Par 4s could use 3 wood and hybrids and for par 3s mainly PW - 8. Driver used four times (190 - 200 yds). A really nice relaxing experience for two couples on a beautiful day.
The Cove of Rotonda Golf Center
Played On 02/27/2014A very good executive style course
Had a fun afternoon of golf using some irons that seldom get used. Used a 3 metal from the tees often and then 8, 9 or PW coming in to work on accuracy. Greens were a bit bumpy and definitely slow which meant little break. There were enough bunkers to make you think and try to course manage. The sand was playable.
Sabal Trace Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/17/2014Relax and enjoy the day!
Played on a Monday afternoon. Foursome teed off a little late but not excessive. Ok pace until the par 3 third. Two foursomes waiting and then us! Slow slow until the twelfth and then a few people left. The course is in better shape than last year. Greens a bit slow but fair.
A good course for the money.
Thank you very much for the review and we hope to see you back again soon.
